986 headlight fogging on the inside
 

Hi all, I'm at a dead end with my 986's Litronic headlights and trying to get them cleared up and the fog/yellowing removed. I've tried all the DIY methods and also had a detailer give them a full wet sanding down (twice) to see if it improved the fog. No luck, so must be on the inside.

I know I've seen methods for getting the headlight units open but to me that sounds like a recipe for disaster. Has anyone tried this? Or any advice from the group on what I could do next?

To note, when I bought the car it had one original Bosch headlamp (which is in good shape) and one AL headlamp (which is the one with more fog). The Bosch one has a protective film on it while the AL does not.
