DIY: 3D Printed Visor Mirror Covers

Yes... the replacement parts are not inexpensive.

Why didn't the manufacturer put a few more hours into the fit and finish of the part?

It's noble that he's providing them for just the cost of shipping, but I wouldn't install them in my car... and certainly not in such a top-down visible spot. Not unless further they were refined (sanded/painted) and less taxing to fold down. I'd pay ~$30 each... assuming they presented "polished".

Maybe if they weren't made out of sugar they might hold up.

I don't use mine... so the double-sided tape works just fine. For now.

However, if the parts in the vid better matched the original... I'd buy a pair.

Interesting: I think this has potential for a DIYer to get these and adjust them to fit . Watching the video it looks to me that the blanks are a little big in a few areas , does this material sand well ? I would think some sanding around the perimeter and the squared edge by the pins would make the product fit better . And maybe for folks that have broken pins could a metal split pin be used ? I think if these were tweeked a little they would work , I would suggest the end user spray paint satin black .

Yeah the finish can definitely stand some improvement

If these get printed with ABS and finished with some acetone they would look great. I was planning on emailing the creator/printer to see if I could get the design to tweak and print.

It looks like they are printed with PLA. If they are, the worst problem is that they will warp in the sun, which makes them pretty unusable. As a previous poster wrote, ABS would be a much better material.

I think I’d prefer the bare mirror.

This is not a part well suited to 3D printing (large, complex curve, will be visible once installed).
