DIY: Headlight Switch replacement

Just replaced the headlight switch on my 1998 Boxster. The symptom was my left tail light would usually not work and it was not the bulbs. Made another DIY, hope it helps someone! Very easy to do, should take about 20 minutes.

Not a bad job at all. If one takes their failing switch apart they'll wonder how it ever worked that great to begin with. Contacts are flimsy at best. I did mine...cleaned it and messed with it a bit. It worked much better but I still replaced it about a year later when I came across a gently used on on the forum.
The switch in my 911 is starting to show signs....not electrically but mechanically. It offers little resistance when turning off/on.

Yes, my old switch had very little resistance too. In fact, I could turn it to the two full left positions without pulling it out!

That’s what mine is doing as well. Switch it still working though.
