Funny thing, it started here before I was ever on GRM:
VW do latch/actuator
Note the follow-up comment on the Grassroots post about swapping over the mechanical part of the door latch. It's easy to do and retains the 986 electronics. The problem I've seen is usually worn plastic on the mechanical latch rather than failure of the microswitch itself.
