Looks very, VERY nicely done. Looking forward to the tutorial. Mostly because I'd like to understand the trim-out of that lower console. I tried to swap my a/c controls to that location but the trim piece is a different shape altogether.

The head unit is by Xtrons, this is the third car ive fitted an Xtrons unit in and they are really good. This one is the TA7091PL - https://xtrons.co.uk/double-din-android-9-0-ta709ipl - look on ebay as the same unit is cheaper and its from Xtrons using a different ebay seller name.

The cage is from a company called Connects2 who I use for all my cages and harnesses for double din head units. They have a great back up customer services aswell.

The ebay seller for this cage is Dynamic Sound who is the official distributor for Connects2 - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Stereo-Radio-Double-Din-Fitting-Kit-Fascia-Panel-Adaptor-Black-for-Porsche/352465150023?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Also the harness came from the same company and the only wire I had to install was for the illumination of the head unit which I took from the feed for the bulb on the cigarette lighter. This harness is for a boxster with built in amp but NOT fibre optics - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT53-PO01-CD-Wiring-Loom-Harness-Active-System-Adaptor-For-Porsche-911-Boxster/401631954462?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 .

They also do the harness if yours does have the fibre optics

It was all really easy to install and only took a couple of hours. I do have a reversing camera to fit which I will do one day

Regards

Click on the link for the cage, that's the surround for the head unit and the other surround for moving the climate controls

Just looked at yours and you have the same facia as me, its the head unit thats wrong. They do state on the eBay listing for the facia that some Chinese head units are too big, which is the problem you had. The Xtrons unit fitted perfectly

Your looks much neater.

Me too!

It looks like you have the current version of the same head unit I installed a couple of years ago. One of the best things about this one is that it doesn't have a brand logo on it's face so it's not quite so obvious that it's an aftermarket unit and it's also easy to change the home screen to something that looks like it could be OEM.

You'll really like the GPS speed function on the Torque app as it is far more accurate than the car's speedometer.

You can see more of my install here : https://rx19jones.wixsite.com/projectboxster/projectboxster-3

Cheers - dj

I know this post is more than several months old, but was wondering if you know if they offer a head unit with a dial for volume. It's the one thing I don't like about most double din after market screens is the buttons for volume. Also, for they have an Android Auto version or just head units that run on Android OS? Install looks great btw.

Thankyou

Go on the xtrons website and have a look to see if they have what you are after

Cheers :-)
