Headlight seals

I have had two 986 boxsters in the last couple of years and both had headlight seals that sort of turned to a black goo and reminded me of a polyurethane sealant. I searched and searched for replacement gaskets and they only come with new headlights. A few months ago I was in home depot and came up with some Frost King Silicone tear drop profile self stick weatherseal. I stripped the headlights of the old seals and stuck this new weatherseal to the lights and VOILA. I have attached some pictures. I couldn't be happier.

Nice work! Thanks for sharing!
What part is the "wallah", though? I've never heard of this and Google doesn't seem to know, either.

You are welcome.

Have Google check the urban dictionary, A shortened, slang term for "Waheyat Allah," which means "I swear to God".

Nice find! I've looked, but have never seen this stuff. I'm sure it will help a lot of people.

Old thread I know...I have the same problem and this looks like a great solution! I was only able to find the strip OP used in Brown, and looks like the bag OP posted was Brown also. The end result doesn't look Brown...and it doesn't seem to be available in Black. Anyone else done this with the Brown?

Humm, I just ordered this from Walmart and realize it is brown. I haven’t received it yet. The end result on OP car doesn’t look brown. I guess Walmart offers easy return if it really looks brown. It sells at Walmart and Home Depot.

The model number for google search is: Frost King SS20BR. I ordered it on sale at Walmart for $13.78. I like that it’s 20ft. I always have multiple 986/996 cars since I’m an addict, so I have left over for other cars.

The other option I would have done is from McMaster-Carr
PN: 1129A992 “High-Temperature Rubber Seal Flange-Mount, Hollow 1/2” total width, 1/4” seal height. I read that 5ft might be enough, or might not be enough. Ha.
That would work out to be $23.60 for 5ft for me, shipped.

This thread contains the details.
