Tip questions

My first post on this forum (although I scan the forum every morning with coffee) and I need help.
I Have a 03 s tip for 15 Mo.(closing in on 100K) and have been doing all maintenance myself. The car is my wifes daily and my weekender. Yesterday the car would not shift into reverse. Drive functions normally but when shifting to reverse no typical positive clunk is felt although some feeling of reverse is felt especially when easing on the throttle . Have not been able to find anything associated with this specific condition. Durametric is normal, no help in bentley. Back up lights come on.
Anyone in 986 land have words of wisdom? All input is greatly appreciated
Terry

Does everything else function well with the shifter? Thumb button/locking position in park/seating in (D)? Check the shifting cable on the transmission end. Make sure it is securely mounted. I'd also get a look at the transmission mounts and engine mount to see if they are worn out.

When was the last time the transmission was serviced?

New filter and fluid last year about this time. Nothing done lately that would appear to affect it. My wife is still driving in drive to work and that is typical feeling, drove it last nite and normal in drive. Am going to remove the console in the morning first and then look at the trans to see if anything looks out of sorts. Thanks for the feed back.

Console had a bunch of quarters from the ash tray lid hole all around the shift linkage. Cleaned them out and same condition. The park, neutral, drive and manual all function well so adjusting the cable one way or another does not seem logical
Indie says it's normal with diagnostics except not going into reverse totally. Transmission quote of $3500 is a wake up. Any opinions? thanks

I agree with this . When mine started having trouble going into park my indy started at the lever on the trans. Now I`m not saying for anyone to do this but. We put it on the hoist with me inside. Once up where he could see it we went through the gears. The lever mechanism was dirty and corroded and wasn`t moving all the way. He cleaned it with emory paper and it worked fine.
