Removing pins from the amplifier connector?
I got a 6-channel amp and I'd like to do two things:
1. Swap the connectors on the harness that's currently in the car 2. Remove some of the pins in the harness to use in the door harness for a factory-looking solution to wiring new speakers without damaging the existing speaker wiring/harness in my girlfriends Boxster. I haven't removed pins successfully from a harness before and I'd like some guidance. How do I remove these? Here's a shot of each side of the connector: http://i.imgur.com/SE39Y83.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YXaluKb.jpg |
With a special tubular tool. ;)

Thanks, I wasn't sure if that would work for this application.
I'm having second thoughts about my girlfriend's car. Her 2003 986 S has PCM and I was just going to run new speaker wires in addition to the amp, but a factory amp is $20 shipped. I'll cannibalize the amp's connector to make a plug-and-play speaker wiring harness (like dalvarado did, here) and grab power from the battery, so I should only have to run 2 RCAs and a remote wire to the frunk. The replacement amp is a Kenwood KAC-M3004, just a little fella (not my image): http://i.imgur.com/hjwzhZT.jpg |
I did the second option with my Bose amp. Ripped the connector off, and soldered wires onto the plug.
