there are resources online for the 944 and the Miata on how to depower the rack, and most of the tricks appear to be transferrable to the boxster rack. if you are going to buy a rack to work on make sure you get the right year.

It done.

That's what I realized.

I've pulled it, stripped it, did the ports, removed seals and rings...

and shipped the "torque" spindle off to CO to be fixed rigid.

pulled rack in an hour or so no need to remove any other part of the car (except wheels)

Did you weld the "flex joint" ?

What did you do for the PS pump ?

Ben.

pinion shaft (flex shaft, torque variant shaft) ect ...

I sent the pinion shaft to martin willis @ the machine shop, Colorado Springs CO.

all the pro welding shops refused to weld on the shaft as it is hardened (they say) and the liability was too great.

He does them all the time for the 944 racers
(if it works for them, it will last on the street for ever).

I pulled the pump and lines, my application just needed a smaller alt belt.

Nice to now that you found a shorter belt that fit !

What size was the belt if you now?

I've done it on my miata, and I really feel the boxster will respond as good to the modification (I like heavy, communicative steerings).

Thank you for sharing !

Ben.
