LN spin on oil filter adapter
My LN spin on oil filter adapter is leaking. Does anyone else have this problem? I followed directions with oiling the O-rings and torqued to spec. Or does anyone know where replacement o-rings can be obtained? Is LN the only place to get them from?

Mine does not leak are you sure the o-ring is the problem ? Maybe the mating surface is dirty ? I would think McMaster Carr or even the local hardware store might have the o-ring. Or a plumbing supply house ?

LN use to have replacements, so I would start there. |
Jfp.....jake installed mine so i do not know the answer. Are the o-rings to be lubricated with engine oil or teflon/silicone grease or ? I do not plan on ever having to remove mine but i am curious. Thanks in advance.?

We have only seen a few of them leak, and they were usually related to how they were installed. Done properly, they are tight and trouble free.
We lubricate them with engine oil, nothing special is required. |
Isn't the O-Ring should be the Same as the OEM filter O-Ring?
|
I've never had to replace an O ring on one of these, and I used/ installed the first one ever built. I have also never seen one of them leak, for any reason. Every engine we build gets one of these, and always has.. Hundreds of them have passed through the doors here.
I can only believe that the O ring was torn upon assembly thats causing this.. But there's a first time for everything. I'd remove it and look for damage, then coat it with a smear of grease and try it again. |
If you do a google search, you'll see that you are not the only one with this issue. Most cases boil down to bad or pinched o-rings or improper torque, though some have had issues with them working themselves loose repeatedly even after proper tightening.
|
The loosening issue is something else we haven't had.. What causes that is people over tightening the oil filters, and when removed they will break the adaptor loose.

Mine leaked when 1st installed. Replaced O-ring. Problem solved.

Thom4782, where did you get a replacement o ring from?
|
Charles @ LN Engineering was kind enough to send one. Try LN's customer service number and see what they can do.
