Dropped the parts this morning at 6:45!
I don't know when I'll get them make, they are not open on weekends. I'll call them Monday to see if they can give me a date!

Also, those shifters came with updated clips! It's something I wanted to do... but no need now, the new clips will be stronger! All good for us (you)!

I'll continue to work on them this weekend, I've never had so many!

Thanks guys!

Ben

Ben,

I received your short shifter this afternoon. Looks great! I tried to send a PM with a question but your storage is full. Any chance you could free-up some space?

Alex

Ben006 11-09-2016 02:51 PM

Yes sorry about that it got full this morning and I couldn't really do it at work :/

You can send me PMs again :)

One thing, for those who will receive or have receive their shifter: DON'T TRY TO PUT THE BEARINGS INSIDE THE CUPS IF THERE IS NO WASHER INSIDE FIRST!
The fitment can be very tight and you won't be able to get the bearing out without damaging it.

I think I already said it, but in case you missed it ;)

I assume thats what the shiney new pennies are for?

Ben006 11-09-2016 03:42 PM

Yep :)

I can't find cheaper washers that are durable at the same time.

Porsche Boxster Short Shift Kit (SSK) Installation and Shift Bushing Replacement - 986 / 987 (1997-08) - Pelican Parts Technical Article

Pelicanpart's article is very good!

Also B&M's instructions: http://www.****************************************/images/bm/transmission-and-drivetrain/pdf/45135-installation-instructions.pdf

I really recommend to take the assembly out of the car, it makes it way easier!

Also, if you can adjust your handbrake to go higher, it makes getting the center console out easier.

Search on You Tube if you are a visual learner. The vids may not be exact but it will get you started. For example:

Yeah, I used the instructions Ben recommends and I am not the world's best DIYer. I was able to do it. More time was spent reassembling the console than anything else. It does require some niggling to get it back in.
