Just got mine in the mail last night!!! Can't wait to have some free time to install. Looks great! Thanks Ben...Happy Holidays!!!

nieuwhzn 12-23-2016 10:22 PM

Mine came in today. Looks great. Boxxie is hibernating until Spring, so it will be a couple of months before I can try it out.
Thanks Ben, Merry Christmas!

PaulE 12-24-2016 05:20 AM

You guys will love your new shifters! I am now "adapted" to the shorter throws, it feels like the new normal to me. Thanks again Ben!

Ben006 12-24-2016 06:53 AM

Thanks for the feed backs guys!

Happy holidays!

Ben ;)

auBoxster 01-02-2017 02:44 PM

Would be interested in a kit when the next round is available. Let me know what I need to do to register / be added to the list etc....

Thanks
Grant

Ben006 01-02-2017 04:00 PM

I'll PM you ;)

amagalla 01-09-2017 07:16 PM

I got the shifter installed and it works very nicely. I do still have a bit of lateral play in the shifter. I assume that is either down to the cables/linkage or the trans itself. Any ideas?

Ben006 01-10-2017 09:30 AM

Usually the last bit of play comes from the gearbox, there isn't a lot you can do about it :/

Gelbster 01-10-2017 11:28 AM

Get an assistant to wiggle the lever while you verify from underneath.Visual is not required if you can get your fingers on the selector -you'll feel the free play.

Ben006 01-14-2017 06:31 PM

Hi!

New round coming soon! ;)

If you want one, PM me!

I think I said it already, but I'm increasing the price a bit because of the machine shop prices and the added step in the re-assembly of polishing the lever shaft.
New price is 130$ shipped to the US!

Thanks!

Ben.

Still a great price in my opinion. Did the batch around Halloween/Thanksgiving include the polishing? Not that I'm going to change again if it didn't!

Ben006 01-19-2017 03:11 PM

Hi!

No, I started doing it on some on the last round and realized it could only make them better since the only failed one I've ever had was because of that shaft!

If you want one, be quick! I'm closing the orders soon! ;)

Ben

Ben just curious, Mine is still in the box and won't get installed until spring. Should I send it back to have the shaft polished? What sort of additional cost would that entail or is it something I could do myself?

I look forward to the improvements either way.

Thanks,

Mario

Sorry I forgot to answer you!

If you are satisfied with the smoothness of your lever, no need to worry! It would cost more in shipping it back and forth than actually polishing the shaft...
And if it turns out bad... I'll fix it.

For the other, this is the last call! Closing very soon! I don't want the other that have confirmed there order to wait too much.

;)

Copy that and thanks!!

MoeMonney 01-23-2017 07:42 PM

Why would the shaft need to be polished? To fit the actual shift knob? I also have your shifter and IM going to install it soon. What kind of polishing are you talking about?

Ben006 01-27-2017 08:29 AM

I'm not polishing the lever, but the shaft that holds the lever.
It's going to make is't even smoother and avoid any risk of the zinc coating peeling!

The last order is closed, but you can still pm me for the next one ;)

Ben006 02-01-2017 02:32 PM

Hi!

I received... a door tag today! I'll get the base shifters tomorrow!

Also, I will do an install soon, and I'll try to make a video! At least of the install of the shifter inside the base :)

Ben.

LEJ 02-01-2017 03:17 PM

After several months of the new shifter sitting on my work bench, I finally got around to installing it today. I guess it took about 2 hours. Getting the old bushings off is the hardest part. I took a single edge razor held by a pair of plyers and cut off the old tabs until they were free. The second hardest thing was removing and installing the clips that hold the shift cables to the shifter base. I marked the cables so I knew where they should be returned to so that was easy. Once it was all back together, I took it for a drive. The shift distance is without a doubt shorter. It's a bit tougher to shift but it won't take too long before it's second nature. Overall, I'm happy with the results.

Ben006 02-01-2017 03:19 PM

It took me a while to get use to it too! In a week you'll forget about it ;)

Thanks for your feedback !

Ben.

Be sure to send a copy of the video to Neil B in U.K.(the Road & Race Boxster, You Tube guy) because he is a fan of yours now ! It would be great if he would do an install of your kit on his car - drum up some International Sales ? At least this will be an upgrade that works instead of some of the tweaks he tried that did not.

I think Neil's car is a Tip. But he still might be willing to give you some pub, Ben.

I'll be happy to send him one for his honest review! I like his vids!
But they are all sold on this round :/

I'll give the parts to the machine shop tomorrow morning ;)

Ben.

Gelbster 02-05-2017 02:18 PM

Happy problem to have ! You must have a hot product. Your new car - not so much !Confession to the Forum required ! Someone needs to hook you up with a bargain Boxster ?

steved0x 02-05-2017 06:27 PM

Received mine a while back, march 2016, and it has been sitting on the shelf all this time... Today I was down there cleaning and decided, time to do this. Used the B&M and the Function first instructions, it all was much easier than I thought it would be. And those little white pieces really do fly...

Hope to get it installed one day this week at lunch... :)

If you want one, you can always send me a PM and I'll put you on my waiting list ;)

After:

You can see that before polishing, the shaft is OK, but not perfect.
After polishing, way better!

Now I'm just waiting on the machine shop!

Ben ,If your machinist has an Ra ,roughness measurement tool - measure the delta between the polished and unpolished part? Interesting that such polishing makes such a difference.
Ben you need to publicize your video !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38hER9ajgv0

Ben006 02-18-2017 06:14 AM

I can't edit the first post anymore, I don't know why?

Unfortunately I don't interect directly with my machinist anymore :/ I drop the parts at his front door at 6:50am, and pick them up the same way, he opens at 7:30!

I'll do another install soon, I'll try to take precise pictures to complete the video ;)

LEJ 02-18-2017 06:31 AM

Installing Ben's short shift kit was relatively easy. Wayne's 101 book explains the whole job. It's also published here: Porsche Boxster Short Shift Kit (SSK) Installation and Shift Bushing Replacement - 986 / 987 (1997-08) - Pelican Parts Technical Article

Ok guys,

I ran into a piccolini problemo with one of the package... let me solve that issue and we can start another round! I have already enough people to start! So, if you want one, be quick ;)

PM me and I'll answer you as quickly as possible!

;)

Hi Ben,

Just took delivery of the short shifter from you and I'm wondering if I have to reverse the stick again given I drive on the correct (right) side of the road! I note you mention that when you first get the kit you have to fix them (as they are installed backwards) but wondering if that's because they are expecting install on car for drivers on the right ??

oldskool73 03-14-2017 12:42 AM

@auBoxster - no, you don't need to flip it again. I also have one, works fine as is, and Ben explained it to me as :

"I still need to flip the lever, the whole assembly is tilted on the left to make room for a nut, and when the lever is flipped, it points right up:"

http://nsa37.casimages.com/img/2016/...5950779865.jpg

Pretty sure you meant "correct (left) side of the road" too :)

Ben006 03-14-2017 02:37 AM

that's right :)

Thanks Oldskool :)
