cdr-23 Wiring Diagram (Install process with pics)

Hello all. I'm in the process of upgrading everything in the sound system (Head unit, Amp, dash, door and rear speakers). I have a question about the A plug on the CDR-23 HU. I found a wiring diagram.

Can you let me know if these labels (in red) are accurate?

Thanks.
Tony

Not sure about the mute but the others are correct. The white wire is the aerial amplifier so you need to supply it with +12v, I used the remote wire from the double din.

You can pick up switched +12v from fuse A6 in the fusebox using one of these:

You can also get switched and unswitched 12v from the car phone harness/connector under the batwing area

There are a re posts recently that detail that

Those fuse block adapters are also available at autozone and other autoparts stores as well

This is what I ended up using. The only thing that I haven't been able to confirm is the speed signal as the car has not yet come out of the garage. Everything else woks perfectly. The last thing that I need to do is to modify the door baffles to fit some Kicker 6.5 in sub-woofers. everything else is working perfectly.

Stereo upgrade process

So... I'm now going through the process of upgrading the ENTIRE sound system. I've upgraded the front speakers to Polk db401, I added 4 db350 s to the rear box. I'm changing the door "sub-woofers" with some Kicker CVT65 units. I'm also adding a JVC Nav system (kw-nt800hdt) and a JVC amp in the frunk.

I think this will be the hardest part as I've elected to modify the existing box. This is my progress on that so far.

This is the chaos so far.

Here is the navi unit. I don't know what the camera was focusing on.

This is the Amp install. I'm quite impressed with the install if I do say so myself.

Here you can see the 2 Polk speakers peaking out from the speaker material.

The climate control relocated without a problem.

This is where I got the switched power from. It's phone accessory harness behind the batwing.

I hope to have everything done by the weekend. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

Tony

nice write up amagalla, what and where is the "bat wing"?

amagalla 11-02-2014 08:10 AM

It's just below the lower cubby on the center console stack. If you have an S model, it has "Boxster S" on it. Otherwise, it's blank
