Unfortunately, it's not. Everyone likes to break them.

Not something I wanted to do. Practice makes perfect! Thanks for the video though:cheers:

This is unbelievable. I mean... the fact that you still wear bright white socks at your age :p

YOU WIN. It takes me between 5-7min to pop open a headlight here. I'll get a set of flat bars like yours and ditch my two oversized flat screwdrivers (one to pry, the other to hold). Love the flat bar twisting move you give it right after it budge, and the move toward the bottom at the end (learning new tricks everyday!).

I often wish opening my morning jar of jam would be as simple as popping open an old & dry Porsche headlight!

Nice one bro. Thanks for the vid x1000

Thanks for the video! What silicone do you use when you seal the lens back?

Mark, RTV silicon in black is good to go given it is from a reputable manufacturer and rated flexible. Your local auto store should have this in stock or able to recommend a good one. I've been using 3M for all the retrofits that I've made here (over 40 headlights or similar.... stopped counting)

Ultrapro Silicone Gasket, 08700, Black, 3 oz tube - Shop3M

Dries fast, and it flex just perfectly. Makes things 100x easier in case you need to re-open the headlight for whatever reason.

This is what I use. Can be found at most auto parts stores. It's about $8-$10 for a large tube like this and will do 4 headlights.

PARTICLEWAVE!

THE LIGHTS ARE COMING MAY 15th!!! AT LONG LAST!

I will be shipping my lights to you as soon as I am able.
Then again, it doesn't really matter since I don't even have my car haha.

particlewave 04-17-2014 07:23 PM

May 15th! lol...

They shouldn't rush so much :D

Crono0001 04-17-2014 11:19 PM

Considering how I filled out warranty papers in DECEMBER...

They're also backed up by like 20 sets. All that money lost.

I agree that the replacement sealer should be a silicone as it is more manageable for the home hobbyist, but I thought the OEM sealer was a type temperature sensitive hot glue???

The OEM sealant is also silicone. ;)

Heat just softens it up enough to allow it stretch more easily and eventually tear.

Ah...

:)

Hey guys, I'm trying to open my headlights, and I have watched the videos many times and tried to follow what he does. However, my headlight's sealant doesn't soften and let go when heated. It's like rubber and remains rubbery after being in the oven for 15 mins at 225 F. The black housing does soften a little at that temperature. Anyone has encountered this, or has any advice for me? The headlights are Bosch.

Are you going to post the video again?

The link for the video is no longer active. States it was taken down for editing, I'd still be interested. Hope you get it back up. Thanks, Joe

particlewave 05-15-2014 09:17 AM

Hey Joe.
My YouTube account was compromised...I'll see if I can get it back up today ;)
