want to activate OBC in San Jose

Hello all,

I'd like to activate the OBC on my 04 986S. Is there any one in San Jose that can do that for me for a reasonable cost? There used to be someone here on the boards that did that, but he hasn't been active for a few years.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Tony

Anyone in San Jose (or the Bay Area) able to help?

Not a lot of people have the tool that allows you to do this, the PIWIS costs a few thousand dollars. I would suggest posting on RennTech, I think a few of the members over there have them.

You could also try taking your car to the dealer and politely ask them to turn on the outside temperature (which is the OBC). It might work better if you took it in for an oil change, since they will already have your car in the service bay.

I'm looking to make the harness for this obc hack. According to the instructions and the price list, it will cost $54 just for the wires. It's that right? Sounds pricey for 5 wires. Here is a link to the price list:

Price list

Has anyone done this that can confirm these prices?

Thanks

Tony

Are you installing the switch or the stalk? If you are doing the steering column stalk that sounds correct, if you are doing the switch, you can buy some wire at radioshack for $5.

I have the stalk already. The $54 price was just for the wire to plug into the dash harness.

Anyone with the Pro version of the Durametric software can do it as well.

Give Alden a call at Flintworks in Campbell. IRRC, he's helped a number of folks do this or can tell you who can.
