Water Pump Question

Pelican parts sells two different water pumps. One is 250.00ish and the other is 400.00ish.

What is the difference and does anyone have experience with one or the other?

Thanks in advance guys/gals.

Water Pump

I just replaced my water pump with the $255 one. It is a Piereburg, which has been one of the OEM brands used by Porsche. I used the difference in price to purchase the low-temp t-stat and coolant. The car is running noticeably cooler.

Porsche sources parts, puts a pretty stamp on them and puts them in a nice box for the dealers with a mark up. Long as it's a reputable brand, there's no difference.

Hi Jay.
From reading a lot of post about the subject, it always comes to the OEM pump.
A lot of people hade bad expiriance with replacement parts. Again, based on posts in this forum.
Suncoast parts sale the OEM for $300.

From my expiriance ( and this is where I buy most of my parts) sunset imports in Oregon are usually even cheaper. They don't have an online ordering website, so I suggest you give them a call or shoot them an email.

My last Porsche replacement pump lasted 2 years before starting to weep. So what did I buy to replace it? Porsche. Go figure.
