(bored) They chopped the building electricity for the entire night so I'm stuck home doing nothing else than sharpening up my headlight design 'disabilities' :D Seriously though, I do have access to this commercially pure titanium grade for ridiculously cheap here. The one that gives that semi-faded-gold effect! Tempted to get a series out in this material, comments?! Bye bye angel eyes! We obviously have many other ways to get those to live up to the brand, that's one of them http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/011487717633.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/021487717639.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/031487717626.jpg |
Very nice looking Fred, I love that design! I still love the look of mine although sadly, I had to disconnect my angel eyes due to failure on the right side the other day :( I think discontinuing the LED's is the right move, but the aesthetic of the machined holes is still incredible

Thx Captain. Yes those CGT style projectors are the best, period. Not a debate. However heard more than once that there is a need for other styles. Not sure what that means lolll
I quit the angel eyes but won't quit optimizing those shapes and features. Let me know what you guys want/need and I'll snap my fingers ;) |

Re machined holes; I agree with Bruce that they bring in some additional bling but in all honesty, that is not what makes those projectors standout. The car's front-end as a whole is what bling, holes or not. Keep this in mind ;) Here some Turismo Series without the machined holes. As you can see, these cars still look & feel modernized. Speaking loud and clear here I think! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/011487844213.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/021487844222.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/031487844232.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/041487844240.jpg |
Ok, here we go.. My first ever post in the 986-forum.. I have been following this thread from the very beginning and as a "headlight junkie" I am amazed of these CGT-style projectors and how they really enhance the front of the 986. As shown in my Picture I really need to do something about my halogens.. I´d really like to be on the list for the upcoming batch if possible!

I'm another from down under who'd like to be on the list for these lights - I assume the details for installing are provided or is it somewhere back in the 70+ pages of this thread??
|
Cool, received! Thanks for letting me know
Got a new 4K ciine cam (GH4+speedbooster) I'll see if I can get an headlight retroft in HD. I'll post on youtube for all to see how easy it is ;) Other than that, yes I still got the Installation manual if required. I'll link up soon |
And one more to add.
PMed as well |
Me too . . .
I'll also take a set for my 98 986.
Chris |
Fred do you have your website up for these lights? Have some people wanting to know how to get them. Thanks!
|
Its official...
I have lost my dang mind.
I read all 73 pages of this post. In one sitting. And I don't even own a Porsche. Don't even really want one. About halfway through I had to check my history to find out how I even found my way down this rabbit hole LOL Such beautiful machine work... That is all - good day! |

At least they're giving credit where credit is due. |

Maybe I did a search for one in my area, and maybe I found out used can be had pretty reasonably. I have some other priorities ahead of a Porsche, but who knows, I might be back one day as an owner. I bet it'd make me look 10 years younger :) |

This is amazing - how can I get a kit for my 99?

Finally got around to finishing mine, after about two years

Just come back to this site having finally finished my lights but it looks like I should have read it before sealing them up (doh). I always intended to refit the main beam for flashing but now I read the Angel Eyes might fail without a relay, have you an idea about using a relay for flash and the Angel Eyes, or two, or is it not really possible to have both options? Smeg |
Yes, 2 relays. I use a standard automotive relay for the high beam flash and a smaller 12V relay for the AE's, but you can just use a standard relay for both.
|
Hi Fred, if you are ever doing more headlights I would be interested, I know you are busy now and I am looking forward to getting my centre caps but let me know when you can, include the price if the answer is yes.
Terry |
@SmegHead - wow, nice front-end!!! Glad to see you finally got to it bud. really looks good (and so is your car/paint color btw)
2yrs; not bad... I've been wanting to install a set of Luminoso in mine since 4 yrs now. Go figure. Looks like my Boxster will forever live with the first prototype we've made together here on that thread. funny stuff |

@RichRobby @Robert986 @auBoxster @StrangerDJ @SvenskaPoika @bustedknuckelgarage @Crispyfritter @WindwardBoxster Oops, time for me to get busy with those kit. I've been keeping notes of the lastest posts/messages guys no worries there. My sincere apologies fellas. The good news is as soon as I free myself from doing what I'm doing now (and others) I'll crack on doing a few kits for you guys. Starting full speed on those in about two weeks. Got 6 more members here also waiting + 3 guys here in Shanghai who regularly check on me. Get-To-Work it is! I'll Update here :) |

Certainly did. Although may have deleted the original msg :/ These PM doesn't last long on this account... fills to max in a week, less sometimes
The note I have here in my little excel sheet for your alias is:"vivo series in gunmetal". |

Not much NEW, we actually got rid of things instead. Really looking forward an improved and reliable kit - which I've already CAD in Feb/March. Simplified, lighter (cheaper also!). But in all they are the exact same shape/models (visually).
Needs manufacturing which I plan on jumping onto in about two weeks. |

Few months ago I've posted some renders of a prototype for our Vivo Series. When I say 'our' I mean our forum's. As you can see from the visual below it needs a perforated meshed part that I could send out for custom cutting. Process is chemical etching (aluminum) and anodized surface treatment (red?!). Not super expansive in terms of prototyping & production, but the 'task' is quite nasty. CAD, supplier contacts, samples, assembly forming die, fixtures, testing, etc. You get the picture. Something that could be nice to look at for this summer. Therefore any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Does not need to be nice lolll You say - I do - attitude :D http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/011487717633.jpg ^ No plans for Titanium, AL only ;) |
Wow, I´m on the list! This is great news!
I´m not sure I understand what models and color options will be available, is there a list somewhere or is it still up for discussion? I have a black car, I´m thinking black reflectors, the question would be what color on the projectors... The only other color on the car besides black is the red brake calipers.. Would it be possible to make the projector "Cailper-red" to match? I reckon that could stand out quite a lot, and maybe make up for the "lack of" angel Eyes. Just thinking.. |

can you please add me to the list as well please :)
|
Hi Fred.
Is it possible to buy the Vivo Series shrouds only and changes them out in the projectors that I already have? Aluminium would be perfect |
Please include me on the list when you make the next batch!
Thanks, Brad |
|
That's absolutely beautiful, love it.
And if J.Studios are reading this; the TM/bottom arch is printed way too big (i.e. its just a head lamp) :D |
