lollll awww mooney. Precision machined parts out of quality grade 6061 aluminum, anodized for life and personalized with laser scripts... that only cost dimes, right?!

Although I may seem to be giving those away, I still make a good $55 profit on each and every kits that I've sold. Something like that. Not hiding... I've sold little under 500 kits TRK... do the maths mate. Do we really have to sell them $800?! Me don't think so mate... that'd be so bloody unfair to other fellas if you ask me.

I am actually preparing a writeout for you guys, as-in reporting back to 986forum about what I've done with "your" money (and plan on doing for the future). Mate Andy here recommended me to spend it on prostitutes and cocaine but there, that's what distiguish me from Andy - I've always had better taste than him lollll I've found a much better idea that I think, not only will benefit myself, but you guys also.

Me think I owe the 986forum community big time (Rennlist, JP and CN pcar boards also).

You'll be surprised - promise to find time before the coming weekend!

CHRISP357 07-13-2015 05:45 PM

I think you sold these things way too cheap. And I think your buddy was on track with the prostitutes and cocaine!

Does Pelican carry all of the different models? The only ones I see right now are Luminoso

I just purchased a set of Luminoso projectors this afternoon. The Vivos were on the webpage as well for $30 less. But I like the aggressive look of the Luminoso's a bit, and after taking a brief office poll, those seemed to be the most popular for my car. ;)

Headlight shells have already been shipped to Particlewave for the conversion.

Saw that, thanks bud

And yes, Charles the man and install those with his eyes closed now (I think loll). Sort of magical. You'll like those I promise

Litronic Options

Can I just buy your projectors and replace the projectors inside my litronic headlights as they are already Xenon?

Charles does that (again, I think loll). Requires a great deal of patience, if I understood what Charles meant last time he did that ;) Meaning; difficult without additional fabrication but not impossible.

A proper answer to your question would be NO, as in not designed to accommodate the Litronics (yet). But post like yours only fuel up the need to get a mounting plate engineered and I think I'll need to get that done soon. You are the fifth or sixth to ask this question in fact. Not many but some wants it.

Anybody who has a used litronic unit (or set), get in touch with me and I'll paypal what's needed to get it over Shanghai. I only need the parts for prototyping onto really... they don't need to be polished no worries!

I actually had a good functioning set here but got it nicked by a friend here who've crashed his 996 and needed them badly :/

Boxyouout 07-16-2015 02:38 AM

Thanks for the response. Id definitely be a buyer and I'm sure there are plenty of others who have the litronic lights that would like an update. Please keep us posted.

This was a one-off that I did for my own headlights. I might do another...

Boxyouout 07-16-2015 08:02 PM

Please PM me and let me know what it would take for you to do another set for me if that's a possibility.

CHRISP357 07-19-2015 11:44 AM

Charles, you were correct. The problem was the headlight switch! So happy to have this done finally. I swear, I'm never working on this car again. From now on it goes to the dealer if it needs the rear view mirror adjusted! Well, starting after the short shifter, but that's it! Anyhow, here she is...http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1437334969.jpg

Can someone confirm that the Turismo Series GT kits will fit a 2002 Boxster S?

I show that Pelican Parts says that they can't confirm these will fit:

TURISMO Series GT Projector Headlight Retrofit Kit, Gunmetal [More Info] Brand: X
Note: We can't confirm this part will fit your 2002 Porsche Boxster S Convertible.

gtoger 07-29-2015 08:03 AM

They fit. Of course you have to modify your headlight housings. It's not a drop-in replacement, is what I think they're getting at.

Are the other GT kits like the VIVO and the Luminoso drop in replacements? Or do those require modifying the headlight housing as well?

particlewave 07-29-2015 11:44 AM

All require some work on the reflector and electrical work, the same as any retrofit. All 3 models are designed for your headlights (1997-2004 986 and 1999-2001 996).

Read the installation instructions for details. ;)

particlewave 07-29-2015 12:19 PM

Instructions here.

jpc763 08-03-2015 08:50 AM

I have a line on a set of 2004 headlights without the corner units for $400 shipped. I would use those as a basis for doing this upgrade.

Is that a good price for the lights? I see the corner units cost $50-$70 each!

gtoger 08-03-2015 08:53 AM

Depending on condition, yeah that could be a good price. Condition is critical, though. I spent $300 on a "decent" set of clears (shipped), then clear corners for another $100. But what constitutes a good price is contingent on a number of factors, including supply and demand.

gtoger 08-05-2015 12:15 PM

I just got my lights back from Particlewave. AMAZING work. I think the car looks so much newer now that the old VW headlights are gone.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1438805492.jpg

Sharp eyes will notice the integrated DRL. I think it's a very nice touch. I have noticed that in the midst of all the trucks, SUV's and crossovers, my tiny, dark colored car seems to get overlooked. So the DRL is really a functional consideration for me apart from just looking trick.

I'm also considering adding some DRL's down to the cold air ports under the bumper. I have an LED kit that will look nice there. Simply a matter of wiring it in properly, which is challenging for me since Porsche has everything pretty nicely tucked away. But I know guys have done it, and so I'm thinking about that as well.

Pelican Parts seems to only have the 4300 color (OEM)will they ever have them available in 5k or 6k?

Thanks.

particlewave 08-05-2015 03:19 PM

Doesn't look that way, but the bulbs are cheap on eBay (about $10 per pair).

amagalla 08-05-2015 07:49 PM

What kind of bulb is it (is there a certain base that I'm looking for)? Or will any HID bulb work?

particlewave 08-05-2015 07:54 PM

You'll need to get h1 and trim or sand the base slightly to fit in the bulb tube. Since these are custom made, there aren't any ready made bulbs for them (aside from contacting Fred).

Alternatively, if anyone needs replacements or a different temp like 5000k or 6000k, let me know via PM and I'll get some made up.

And you'll need to trim the base down to the locating pins, like this...

Long live the spud!

amagalla 08-17-2015 06:19 PM

I just picked up a set off ebay for $400. Except for the totally burned out inner lens, the housings are in great shape. I don't even think I'll have to do too much work on them.

Sent you a PM about the bulbs.

Excellent News

We now have a complete DIY Installation Manual for those who wish to upgrade their Porsche Boxster (986) or Porsche 911 (996) old halogen headlights with a true bi-xenon & HID lighting system. The manual is completed with 29 pages, 27 HD pics and one video.

Can't thank Norm and Charles enough for helping me out for putting this together. And it's in English! Thank you :)

Need assistance

I've had the new projectors working flawlessly for 3 months and this morning the angel eyes would turn on but when I switched for the headlights the stereo got all staticky and the lights didn't turn on. When looking at the lights while on (and not working) you could see what looked like lighting crackling in the bulb. Eventually after turning on/off a few times they kicked on but now it's doing the same thing. Any ideas?

particlewave 08-28-2015 04:05 PM

Is it both headlights?
If so, try pulling the headlight switch first and cleaning it out with contact cleaner (spray inside the switch).

It is both headlights. I just pulled them both and the connections are still good.

The switch in the car that turns the lights on?
How do I pull that (looking it up on google)

particlewave 08-28-2015 04:14 PM

Yes, the headlight switch in the car. That's the only area where both headlights get power. I doubt both headlights would go bad at the same time, so the common factor would be the headlight switch.

Pelican has a write up under "headlight switch replacement". ;)
