Center caps

I bought center cqps with the full color emblem from some dude on EBay. When I received them, they had two holes drilled in the emblem, I questioned the seller and he said that's the way they come from Porsche. Is he pushing on my leg? To me, that's the way you do an irregular.

Nope. Factory caps have 2 holes to remove them without taking the wheels off. There is a tool Porsche offers, I think it costs 8 or 9 hundred :) But a small allen wrench suprisingley works!

Thanks for the info

Thanks, I feel better

You can bend a paperclip to work too.

My $.02 is more than the paper clip 'tool' would cost.

I've tried to pry mine off with allen wrench and paper clip and they aren't popping out. I'll try the coat hanger next, but some of you guys must have center caps a lot looser than mine...

Coat Hanger

Cut a piece of coat hanger wire, bend it in the shape of a "U" so you can stick it in both holes simultaneously. I've found this will pull even the most stubborn centers.

I believe that either Gemballa or Hamann offers one of those center cap tools in carbon fiber for around $2300. You could probably find one on eBay for $1800 with free shipping though.

Get some velcro tape. fold it in half with a tab about 1 inch long in the center. clean / dry the center cap and attache the tape. grab the tab with some pliers and pull. POP! total cost about $2.

Amateurs............Don't you know where to shop for the bargains.............

17 Piece Heavy Duty Slide Hammer Kit

So I don't need to remove my wheels to take the old ones off. There are no holes drilled in the OEM caps. I already spent this month's allotment on air/oil separator and spark plug tubes so I can't afford $2300 for special tooling LOL

Just an update....the new center caps were too big for the 16" wheels. So much for the table saying it would fit my year. But I started messing with the cap, pulled some clear film off the emblem, then peeled the emblem off the cap and placed it over the original, pushed it in because of concaveness of the original and voila! New cap
