Steering Wheel upgrade to a 987

Hi Guys - im new to the world of Porsche and have just landed myself a 02 S - Which only after 1 month has cost ne a new water pump which left me stranded on the motorway.

I have some nice subtle upgrades which came with the car - 987 alloys and lights, but id like to know if i can fit a 987 steering wheel to my 986? does the 986 airbag fi directly in its place if i get a wheel with no air bag?????

thanks in advance and any other suggested tweeks / checks i need to do are very much appreciated................Scotty:D

MADMODZ - Thanks for the reply - soory it may be a bone question, but a friend of mine said i might have issues with the airbag `technicalities` hence my question - So can i buy a 987 wheel and fit my 986 airbag and simply plug it in???

The airbag for a 986 and 987 (4 spoke vs.three spoke) are different and will not be interchangeable.

You must have a base model.... My S has a sport steering wheel and therefore only has 3 spokes... So that doesn't hold up. However; I still feel that they do not swap over directly.

Thanks Guys - i have a 3 spoke model - no steering controls. I just fancied the silver tabs as per the newer 987 wheels to match up with the aluminium looking trim within the cabin - they look so much better. Guess thats a massive negative then.

I bought my car 2nd hand, but the owner told me he didnt like the gold colored emblem so he switched airbags to the silver one. I ended up switching wheels to an aftermarket one. It should fit. Mine did.

That is a sweet wheel Madmodz. Reminds me of the Golf GTI with the squared off base - Where did you gat that from?

I found it on ebay for about 850.00
