So I got my 940 bt and the euro speed kit. One question I have is the wiring diagram says that the blue wire on harness B should connect to the blue/white wire in the avic power harness. Though the harness is for the antenna and the Avic blue/white wire is for the system amp turn on. Should I just connect the harness to the antenna socket?
Any help would be appreciated. |
The Boxster audio wiring is different depending on which stock audio system it came with.
For instance the Bose system in mine did not have a switched 12V lead in the harness. Antenna power and amp turn on are both +12V so they are interchangeable. Sent from my Xperia Arc S using Tapatalk 2 |
I have a 2002 cdr220, it's the easiest setup to upgrade. Pretty much my avic harnesses are missing a blue connector. I only have one for system remote control, where as the instructions suggest that there should be two, unless both system remote and antenna connect together to the blue boxster harness.
|
So I hooked up the HU and it works great with exception to my door speakers. I can't get either to work. I think it has to do with the red harness as the front will work fine and will work in either the front or rear avic harness outputs but not the rears. I'm going to try the old radio again and see if the door speakers work if they do I know it's the harness.
Otherwise the radio kicks ass and the eurospeed installation and bezel look great. I can't wait to mess around with it some more. |
I got it to work, I didn't realize the door speakers were sub woofers. They were working the entire time. I wonder why they aren't connected to the sub woofer channel? A question I have is if I buy the rear speakers that go on the sides of the pizza oven, where do I connect them?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but thought this was worthy of posting:

I have the same camera, but haven't installed it yet. How did you route it?

Here's some pics of my JVC installation and FULL TIME backup camera - I ran the input to an extra AV IN input on Head Unit.
The instructions call for backup camera to be connected to the reverse signal wire. I chose to have it on full time….then, that way you can see pickups try to pile drive into turns to follow you! Good times! Wait I OWN a pickup (however, I DO KNOW the difference in handling between a Box and a truck - some people apparently don't). I have almost witnessed 2 accidents - from IN FRONT! Here is a shot through the rear window after console was painted and rear deck speakers were installed: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1362665621.jpg Here is a shot inside from the backup camera: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1362665298.jpg he wiring is not so easy but do-able. Just take your time and do it right! |
Here is the shot of the rear camera installed.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1362666182.jpg BTW, the bumperettes have been repainted to factory colors….the silver was a failed experiment. Sorry, I had to blank out license #….I don't have a "cool" customized plate - like some folks! Here's lookin' at ya! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1362666377.jpg Now you know what I mean when I say, "See Ya!" It isn't just decoration! |
Did any of you guys get your LEDs from your camera to work?

You know that those are Infrared emitters for better night vision for the camera. No human visible light but to the camera at night it will light up the ground and objects up to perhaps 6' |
The problem is I have LED license plate illuminators. They create a giant glare at night. I don't know how else to get rid of it :( aside from removing my LED illuminators of course
It works fine during the day |

can anyone tell me the color code for the reverse light? I have my camera installed and its working, but im not sure what wire to connect the came to come on when in reverse.... Thanks in advance all
|
Do you want to know the colours of the wiring to the lights themselves or do you want a signal wire for the head unit?
If its a signal wire it's the black/blue one under the drivers seat and will switch the head unit to reverse view when you select reverse. |

And remember to keep your eyes ahead AND don't feel bad when you watch someone try to follow you into a turn and not make it. Although it would make great YouTube footage! Good Luck! |
Thanks, that is what I needed ...
|
I really like the silver on the dash cover. is that factory or did you paint it? if painted how did you prep it? Do you know anyone that does it professionaly?
|
so i finally hook up my lic plate reverse camera but its very blurry. is there a way to adjust the focus?
Running the wires was easier than I thought as there are plenty of panel covers to hide the cable behind. I only had to drill a 3/16" hole in the trunk into the spoiler area. |
No idea about focusing, but you might want to make sure that there isn't some sort of protective plastic over the lens.
|
The camera is focused at infinity and no manual focusing is available. With a wide angle lens of 170 degrees the depth of focus is huge. If your image is fuzzy then as mentioned already you have something on your lens or an internal camera fault.

Installed mine yesterday, used the connects2 kit and a pioneer avh-x4500bt

Well if its broke already it cant get much worse so I might as well just take it appart and see if its fixable/cleanable. Maybe got some HongKong smog trapped in the unit. BTW Nice Nimbus ...Nimbus, fellow glider pilot here. https://plus.google.com/photos/118388745157890389551/albums/5386905776283389553?hl=en_US |

Any suggestions re double DIN installation?
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379025849.jpg
Hello everyone. This is a shot of my interior (2001) with parcel shelf below. I'd like to keep it if I could and have the aircon take the place of the disc storage unit. The double DIN unit to be installed. From what I can gather on this forum. I need a Connects2 kit for DD but what do I do for the plastic surround to replace the disc storage unit with the narrower aircon unit? Is my configuration peculiar to Australia? |
Rick, I know its a long post but what you need to know is here. Do a search or start with post one and skim through for what you need.
Moving the ac to the disk tray should be no problem at all and not require any extra parts. |
Upgraded from the clarion single din I installed when I bought the car in 2013. Bought a Chinese one on eBay. It was $279. Nav, Bluetooth, wifi, and android based.
Before: http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/...pso1gjfklp.jpg During: http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/...pscjrwsapu.jpg After: http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/...psoogetqzk.jpg Still not quite done. The paint ran on me. Have to fix that. Did not buy the $150 kit. Used a piece of lexan and painted it flat black. |
What radio did you buy?
does it work well? |
So far it works great. Even sounds better then the one it replaced. |
looks like a winner.
How is the Nav system/? |
The native Nav software is nice. Very Garmin like. However, you can use any Nav software you like that is available for android. Google maps, Waze, etc. You can even program the Navi button to whatever software you prefer.
|
Played with it a little more. Finally figured out how to get the OBD2 adaptor paired to it.

I just ordered a quad core Android 4.4.4 (Kit-Kat) head unit and this thread makes me think I should go for the Connects2 fit kit (which will take a while to get here, hopefully safely.) I feel like the bezel looks best (it's not flat and cheap-looki), it seems to have a decent cage, and isn't as insanely-priced as the $160 Euro Motorspeed kit.
Looking forward to playing with Torque on the Boxster. Which OBDII dongle did you go with? Bluetooth or WiFi? |
