NEW Boxster "Bentley Style" flip key

I bought this flip key from ebay for 50bucks. before i transfer my original boxster key components (circuit board, battery) into this new key and attempt to line up the buttons, i would like to know some thoughts on the matter....
This key is heaps cooler than the original but there is a risk of turning my 1 old key into 2 broken keys :-/

i always wondered why porsche didn't go to the vw style keys. though the jetta we had the key always collected all kinds of crud in the key recess...

I'm going through a "retro" period. I prefer my no-frills key:

But I have always wondered why my '03 Porsche key isn't nearly as nice as my '00 Audi TT was...

Did you ever get this to work?

Geez, that looks like a challenge.

What I really want is an RFID like key that detects when I am within 10 feet of the car and unlocks.

When I leave and go more than 10 feet it should auto lock.

With technology today that should be pretty easy to do...now that would be worth some effort.

Guess you still have to get the keys out of your pocket to start the car but thats a good phase 2 project...push button starting.

I always thought cars technology lagged so far behind and can not understand why they don't adopt the new technologies more aggressively, they have nice sized development departments so its not like they don't have or couldn't contract this work out.

My 1996 Corvette does this - I don't know why all cars don't. It's awesome.
