Installing a Front Lip

I got this universal lip with instructions to install: On Ebay.
These were the instructions:
1. Clean the area thoroughly with alcohol or brake cleaner.
2. Use adhesive promoter on the rubber lip and let dry for a few minutes.
3. Use 3M Adhesive Outdoor High Strength Red Tape and stick it on the front lip.
4. Stick the lip to the front bumper.
5. It recommended to use screws as additional support.

Well, I did all that and it did not work. The adhesive promoter did not work like it was supposed to and the Red Tape did not stick to the rubber lip. It started to fall off minutes later.

Drilling holes in the bumper and lip are the only way to go with this.

Cost Spent for materials:
$35 for Lip
$6 for Adhesive Promoter
$4 for 3M Red Tape
$5 for screws and bolts.

Here is how it looks:

At the risk of insulting you, why did you feel need to break up the nice clean lines of your front bumper with a rubber strip ? Your vehicle looks better without it .

I think it looks more aggressive that way.

No offense but you overpaid. What you just used was a rubber garage door sealer/liner. Google DIY home depot lip. I've done this to my WRX for $11 bucks.

Yeah, actually my friend told me the same thing earlier today when he saw it in person.

What year is your WRX ? I recently test drove a couple of different 2011 STi's .

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I was wondering what you did on the side of the bumper where the little black trim piece is. I purchased a lip kit too for mine because I installed a skid plate in front.

This front lip is rubber. I just cut the ends and tried to make it line up with the existing mini plastic lips in front of the front wheels. It does not look great in the corners, but still better than having no lip at all.

Oh ok. I purchased the same lip and I was just wondering how others had the ends finished. Right now I have it dead-ending just in front of that black trim piece in from of that mud flap.
