How to Replace a 2000 Boxster Coolant Expansion Tank?

Can someone tell me how to replace the coolant expansion tank on a 2000 boxster? Thanks.

I don't have a write-up, but perhaps these photos will help you visualize it...I copied them from one of the sites out there a while ago.

i just did this job last week and it's not too bad. i used this write-up for reference http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/tech/tech9-03-2003.htm.

a couple tips i'd pass on...buy a pair of hose clamp pliers (i couldn't have done the job without them)... use screw-on type clamps to replace the spring clamps...undo the hoses you can get to from under the car, then pull the tank away from the firewall in the trunk to gain access to the rest of the clamps (such as the one on the oil filler hose).

good luck, take your time, you will swear a few times but i saved over $400 doing this myself. PM me if you need support.

Not too bad.

I changed my tank out today in just over an hour. You don't have to disconnect all of the hoses going through the firewall. Take the 3 hoses loose at the top of the tank. The hose that connects to the bottom of the the tank is about 4" long. Disconnect it from the steel line inside the engine compartment. I removed the spring clamp from underneath the car with a pair of long needle nose pliers. With that clamp off, and the hose loose, you can slide the tank back and remove the rear clamp, (connected to the port on the tank) from inside the trunk. Just reverse the steps and use screw clamps instead of spring clamps and the job is not too bad.
