Boxster S with GT3RS deck and spoiler on

I couldn't find the right spoiler for my 986S, so I bought a GT3 RS spoiler and deck cut it half and put on my 986S for street and switch the top wing to GT3 RS carbon wing when I goes into track much lighter :) |
Interesting. Looks good.

but my car doesn't running right.... I guess too much air and fuel from the ECU turning .......running too rich Every time when I went high RPM and shift up, blue fire came out from my exhaust....which is really BAD  |
Well... the groceries in your rear trunk will be well ventilated. Looks cool to an extent, but I don't really care for the fake vents and all. I really like the front bumper though, who makes that? The rear lower diffuser looks cool too and the exhaust is certainly different. If you actually custom fabricated an exhaust that may be kind of cool, but if it's just another exhaust tip welded below the other two... well then it's a bit cheezy in my book.
Welcome to the board! Kirk |
Do you have a web link to where I could purchase the front bumper?

Im a architecture designer in SF, I love to do my own design :) Most of the works I done by myself :) I custom made my straight triple exhaust, the concept was from LEXUS LFA (but too loud) The front bumper is GT3 RS bumper and I modified the opening by my own and combine with AUDI S4 Lip. The rear lower diffuser I made by my own too :) try to give it some sport looks :) Those two vents on my trunk has two soft pipes under it and goes into my engine base. Your 986 is real Gembella looks! so....cool Love it!! Mine just a home made project :) |

Here is the web from Ebay(cheaper) :D . I think they have really good deal for the boxster bumper. You can take a look :) |
I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other but it does make the rear end of your Box car look very busy.
I do recommend that you get your bumperettes painted. They caught my eye at very first glance. BTW, pics look like they were taken on Treasure Island under the bay bridge. Right? |

Those two bumperettes used to be silver for the boxster S. I painted to black. I do agree with your opinion. I should paint it back to silver :) here is a pic before I paint it to black Yes, those photos were taken on Treasure Island :) |
Your work looks like it is of high quality, good job. Part of the fun of our cars is making them our own. I know it is not realistic, but it would be fun to see what the air-flow patterns are like with the wing in a wind-tunnel with smoke trails.
I have often wondered what smoke patterns looked like with our stock cars with top up, top down. That is, how smooth or laminar the air flow patterns are. Anyone have links to pics of such, Ed  |

You almost made me CRY by" Part of the fun of our cars is making them our own" You have a really good website which recorded all of your automobile history. I should follow up too :) Have a space where I can record all my happiness and sadness of my hobby. also record what I learned from every steps. The most important thing is to record how many times I have cut myself by making things happen. Thank you  |
A pic with street tires/Rims :)

Hi Kirk
Thank you for the compliments :) Thank you Especially for the colors contrast. I did spend sometime to decide where should I keep silver and where should go for black. Hopefully the result not to bad for everyone :) I even thinking about to paint the whole top to black....I don't know...to give it even stronger color contrast... This is a pic of my current front bumper looks like :) Try to make both opening a little bit more sharper :) http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...5-100-3436.jpg Im still waiting for the CENTER RADIATOR VENT GRILL. I would like to cut my front bumper again and fit this thing in. Hopefully turn out good. Thanks :) http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...226-4975-1.jpg |
Really interesting work!
A bit busy to my taste on the back but I do recognize the fact that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! That said, I love the GT3 RS ing and I have been looking for a similar aftermarket solution for the Boxster. I wouldn't dare put it on until a proper engine is there to back it up (3.6 or 3.8 conversion). Still, I would love to see how it looks with the track carbon fiber wing on. Any pics? Mike |

Here is a pic with the GT3 track carbon fiber wing on. I think this is way too big for street driving....... I really like your new 997 bumper! very cool and sweet!! Totally NEW looks!! Love it  http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...-gt-wing-1.jpg |
It is pretty wide for sure but I like it a lot. Thanks for posting!
Did you buy the GT3 deck assembly from Porsche? How difficult was it to fit is to the original half boxster deck? (Thanks for the comment on the front. I am not 100% happy with the way it fits but at this point it is what it is! The original got destroyed by some idiot uninsured driver who drove into my car while I was parked pumping gas! |
Nice mods
You did a great job on the Mods, like the work on the front. Have you tracked the car before and after the wing to time the difference? The wheels look good too it's so hard to get other than silver and chrome.

Sorry for reply late :) I didn't buy the GT3 deck assembly from Porsche( too expensive) Mind Is aftermarket. I didn't cut my boxster trunk at all. I only cut the GT3 deck and mounted on my boxster trunk, use fiber glass to make it one piece. :) Quote "The original got destroyed by some idiot uninsured driver who drove into my car while I was parked pumping gas!" OH MY GOD!! that idiot should pay more attention on "PORSCHE" :D But you know what? After I saw your new front bumper, I like yours more than mind now :D I really like it so.................much!!! Totally GT3  http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...1-100-3486.jpg http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...0-100-3485.jpg http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...9-100-3488.jpg |

Thank you for comments too :) I did took my car to infineon raceway to test. But only drags. Before the hard top and spoiler on, I usually ran13.4 sec/104MPH :) but after I put on my spoiler and hardtop....the result became 14.1 sec/98MPH.... :( :( :( :( Ps. I did feel much more down force kicks in on the freeway high speed :) Stick on the road. About that full black rims That used to be silver too . I just use some wheel spray paint to make it full black. Looks a bit more like track car  I really wish I could take my car to the track driving like you guys and not just drags. Because I understand boxster is not a drag car by our mid-engine perfect balance :D |
Mystery solved... the front bumper isn't a GT3 RS bumper and it's not a modified 996 bumper. In fact it doesn't look modified at all except for paint and a lower lip tacked on. It's a GT Motor Sport (www.gtmotorsport.net) bumper:
http://www.gtmotorsport.net/index.php?menu=Boxster+Street&page=Front+Bumper NR Auto (www.nrauto.com) sells almost the same thing, except with vents at the top: http://www.nrauto.com/product_image.asp?id=312 Looks better than in the GT website pics! SF986S why didn't you just tell folks what it was when they asked you??? Kirk |

However I wasn't get it from them.I don't even know there was a inc call GT Motor Sport. I found it from Ebay almost 2 years ago which I have already post the web add when Tommy asked. By the time they call GT3 RS style from bumper. I did cut of some area to make both opening looks bigger and sanded off the bottom part to fit on S4 Lip.Also have different way to paint it. KirK I am not sure what's your point by "why didn't you just tell folks what it was when they asked you". Because I have told them everything i know. Thanks |

I am the one should say thank you! Thank you for all the info you provided :) other wist I might still tell people this is a GT3 bumper when people asking. I know there are still many thing for me to learn. That's why I joined here :) The reason I believed that could be one of the GT3 bumper, cuz I saw this GT3 about 2 years ago when I went to local Euro meet and took this photo.... By the time, there were only two of this bumper for boxster on Ebay.Called GT3 RS style front bumper. Once again thank you for solved the mystery  http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/m...re2408-gt3.jpg |
:p Sorry man, I'm confusing you even more! There's nothing wrong with calling it a GT3 style bumper. This style of bumper was originally made for the turbo-style headlight 996. Before that the GT3 bumper made for the fried egg headlight 996 (like the headlights we have on our cars) was called the GT3 MK1 bumper. If you look at the pictures of front bumper on my car you'll see one of these. I have an OEM GT3 MK1 front bumper. The picture you just posted is a 996 with the turbo-style headlights and what's called the GT3 MK2 bumper. The GT Motor Sport fiberglass bumper is most clearly a copy of this GT3 MK2 bumper except modified to work with our fried-egg headlights. So GT3 style? Yes, just like the GT3 MK2. GT3 RS style? No, that's a completely different bumper that I posted pictures of earlier.
