Caliper spreader
Does anyone know where I can get a caliper spreader that works with the 4 piston Boxster S brakes?
Thanks, Sam |
once you get the pads out, you can actually spread those out with your finger, and not even using much force believe it or not.

i don't know man, it doesn't even take effort worth mentioning to move those, at least for me, put my finger in there and move them, put the pads in place... but if you do find something, post it up, id like to see it. thx |
You must have some really strong fingers!
I ordered this... I'll let ya'll know if it's rubbish or not. http://www.etoolcart.com/ProductImag...IS-25750-L.jpg http://www.etoolcart.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=4413 |
Never seen that style. I like tools. Take some pictures of it in action.
Here is one way I do it. |
I have pushed them back into place too, take off the cap from the master cylinder this helps. One of them was stubborn and I used the same method as tool pants with pipe grips.
You can also lever against the old pads with a small pry bar or large screw driver but be carefull not to slip and dont lever against the caliper. |
Well, the tool arrived today, and I am installing coilovers, so I got to give it a try.
<2 sec... I am not making that up. I know some of you said you could just compress them with your fingers, but I was having a horrible time getting pads out before. With this, it is one squeeze to break it free, 2-3 squeezes to fully compress the piston. Incredible! |

That tool is pushing on the pads.
When I saw the first picture I was wondering how on earth the tool would fit inside the caliper (with the pads removed) and push directly on the pistons. |
