Ben's 2002 Boxster for sale!

Hi guys!

I want to sell the Boxster!
I want something smaller, cheaper and more responsive to mods.
Don't worry, I'm not leaving the forum and I'm not stopping making parts

I posted an add on CL: 2002 Porsche Boxster

It's not perfect... but it is very good!
Come and drive it, then tell me you don't want it

Even if you don't buy it... you'll make a new friend ahah!

I'm open for trades!

Ben

Too bad it's not a tiptronic transmission. I'd be interested in that.

Good luck on the sale.

My recommendation is to stay away from Mini and go with the Miata. The generation your looking at makes the number of failure modes a Boxster engine can blow look reasonable in comparison. My 06 Cooper S blew its engine at 66k due to a failed fuel injector. It stuck open and even though we caught the issue and stopped driving it real quick it had already scored the cylinder walls and lost all compression. Apparently direct injectors can do alot of damage real quick if stuck open.

Free manual transmission driving class offered for the purchase of any used 2002 Boxster !

The problem with the miata is that people are getting crazy with the prices... it's become such a popular car that I won't have any money left over for mods :/
I know the mini's problems :/ I still really like it though!
And I already had a miata before the Boxster

I tested another one tonight, and while it's way down on power compared to the boxster, it's still a fun car in its own way.
The reason I want to change is because I want to get more crazy with the mods, but I don't want to do it on the Boxster.

I'll probably cry the day it goes away :/

I offer to keep cleaning it if you buy it!^^

I forgot to mention of the add, but I also give an AOS (uro... so more for emergencies), 6 spark plug tubes in case you need them, and a new belt.

Just the flywheel/clutch/IMS bearing/RMS is a 5000$ job (in Florida).

I'll probably re-paint the clamshell if I can find the correct reference too.

The windshield was supposed to be replaced today... but they forgot the moulding... ah see you next time!

So... Come see it!

New center caps installed!

The center console is out getting cleaned and fixed. Same for the radio button, they're getting refurbished
Same for the floor mats, I removed them to clean them and show how clean the carpet is underneath.

Spare wheel is there, I have the factory tool set even though it's useless aside from the headlight tool ^^

Having both, a 99 boxster and an 09 base mini. I have to say theyre both a blast to drive, but
I prefer the RWD of the boxster and having been one of only a few folks to take apart and rebuild one of the Mini 6 speeds I agree thay are pretty easy to work on. especially once you get the hang of pulling the motor in an afternoon. But I believe you will spend every bit as much modding a mini as you will the boxster. The "S" Minis are quick, but temperamental, with the emphasis on mental when running increased boost. I used to run a Factory Five 5.0L with a Kenne Bell S/C and I could run tons of boost with simply messing with timing retard. You do that on a Mini and you're going to have head bolts through the hood.

I'm done modding the Boxster, there is nothing more that I can do without spending money that I shouldn't spend!
I want to mod the mini with the money left over, no more.
I found one, a 2006, works pretty good, not nearly as fast as the boxster, and not in the same condition, but still pretty good and not too expensive.

I'm not saying don't do it, just saying watch out. Minis can be every bit as expensive to mod as a boxster. No one makes any aftermarket sensors and I don't know what the availability of Mini programming software is since every sensor has to be programmed to the car. Yes, even the fuse box. And the FWD handling is not going to give you the same confidence level that the Porsche has.

Yeah I saw that no one offers plug and play remaps for the mini :/
But I found some tuning software with the proper hardware to allow for tuning the DME.
It's a USA thing... everywhere else tuners are remapping cars by the dozen. Here, we're stuck with premade reflash... when they're available!

Hi guys!

The car is still for sale! I found a replacement, I just need to sell the boxster...

Did a quick inspection two weeks ago, everything looks fine, nothing that needs immediate attention.
I balanced and rotated tires too

The car has now 119 500miles.

A forum member checked it out, he might come give his impression which I believe were positive

I've checked out quite a few boxsters and honestly this is in by far the best condition I have come across in the under 15k price range. Every 986 I have found has some significant needs and/or unknown IMS history, which is not the case here. Super clean and interior is in great shape. Also very impressed with power delivery, truly couldn't feel power difference between this car and a stock S a drove a week prior.

Unfortunately timing is just a few weeks off for me but someone should grab this one!
