Hey-I I've got a silver '99 Boxster with about 125,000 miles that needs a head gasket. It could also use new suspension bushings. Other than that, it works well. I even had the A/C recharged. Make me an offer.

P.S. You can still drive the car: For the moment it's only a small leak. It burns a little antifreeze. I'm in northern NJ.

Head gasket?

What were the symptoms? How do you know it's the head gasket?

With M96s "Needs a head gasket." means "You're going to need to install a new head gasket after you replace the cracked head."

The above posters are correct, in all the years I've run the shop, we have never seen a head gasket failure, but we have seen a lot of cracked heads; simply because the steel head gaskets are stronger than the head or engine cases. It isn't a head gasket.............

Two cylinders in the left bank create lower compression than the other four, and antifreeze came out the tailpipe from that bank when I did a pressure test on the cooling system.

That's interesting. Is the only way to verify that by looking at the head for a crack?

Whatever the case, scottweins, it could be the head gasket or the entire head that needs replacing.
