WTB - '99 white, w/ red or blue interior
 

So I'm looking for something pretty specific - 1999, white with either Boxster Red or Metropol Blue interior. Not too concerned about top color, because it will wear a hard top when I'm done with it. Manual only. Preferably under 100k miles.

Doesn't have to be a cream puff, but I want an honest car.

I miiiiiiiiight maaaaaybeeee be interested in other years and an S car, but my preference is a base '99.

While I appreciate your silver/red interior car, your white/gray interior car, etc, I'm only interested in white w/ Boxster Red or Metropol Blue. I can flex a bit on year and base vs S.

I'm in Oklahoma, but I'll road trip to bring home the right car.

I'm ready for another project - let me know what you have or if you know of one.

Just curious why do you want a 99 instead of a 98 or 97?

'99 just happens to be my favorite year for no particular reason. Better set up than a '97 for 18" wheels. '98s were a bit more prone to D-chunking in the engines. Early cars had better IMS bearing than the later models. I have S and base model Boxsters. I prefer my base cars. So all that just leads back to '99s being the right car for me.

I have eight 986 Boxsters. Of the eight, five are '99s. I've just always had good luck and minimal problems w/ my '99s. They're all set up a bit different with colors and options. (See my Garage on my profile for pics) It gives me different toys to play with.

Why white w/ red or blue interior? I have pieces and parts for a complete aero kit gathered up and I want to build something along the likes of these Martini livery cars. Just something to spend my time and money on to keep me out of trouble. :D

'99s are the best. That's going to be awesome when you get it done. Are you planning on painting the livery or vinyl? It may be easier to find the right car with a nice interior, then wrap the whole thing or paint it all. Alternatively you could gather nice interior pieces and put them in the right car. ...and sorry, I think most of my spare interior sets are black.

Well - you know the old battle saying "No plan ever survives first contact.", but here's my plan...

I don't think it'll be overly hard to find the right car. I already have a line on a '98, white/metropol blue, 5 speed, 95k miles in the Dallas area. The right color combo is more important to me than year (but we both know '99s are best), or option list or some mechanicals. I always end up putting $4-6k mechanically into any car I buy to make it the way I want, and I have, as you know, a shop full of goodies including enough aerokit pieces for two cars, thanks to Woody and others.

Since I'll be adding an aerokit and a hard top, paint work will be a necessity.

I really want to find a semi-ragged set of sport seats or GT3 seats to get reupholstered the right color since I'm betting the car I eventually find won't have them.

Then I have lots of carbon fiber pieces, consoles to paint, etc for the rest of the interior.

You've seen my wheel stash, so no problems there either.

For the livery - vinyl. MagnaGrafik https://www.magnagrafik.com/WholeCatalogue.pdf does awesome livery graphics. He did the orange side and hood graphics/numbers on my black car.

All in all, I think it'll be a fun project. Not especially cheap - I'm sure I'll have much more in the car with the extras than what I'll pay for it, but it's a project that's been percolating in my mind for several years and I don't have to do it all at once.

do you have a black car with aerokit, and do you ever take it to Dumonts for work? if so I think I saw it there about 3 months ago

Yes. That's my car. I've had Dumonts work on my cars for many years. Mike and Debbie and Matt are wonderful folks.
Here it is at Hallett a few years back racing in the rain. That was a fun day.
