Dave, I expect the CD unit in this is a CDC-4 rather than the -3. I think the cartridge is different and it uses optical cable.

I know this is a very old thread but I'm hoping you might be able to provide the VIN number of the shell you had listed in this post? I have a registry of North American 550 SE boxsters and would like to put this one in the "Totalled and parted" category in the registry.
