Looking to buy a 986.
Base model or S. (Prefer S)
Manual trans
I'm in the midwest, but all cars and locations considered.
Not having any luck with craigslist or ebay.

I saw that you were in Illinois and since I am too, thought I would contact you. I have a 2001 base with 108K that has just had the IMS bearing and RMS changed. Lots of other new parts too, including a newer convertible top with glass window. The only requirement it does not meet is that it is a tiptronic. There are not that many Boxsters for sale in Illinois. I'd recommend you come check this one out, if for nothing else, just to have something to compare with. Who knows, you might just find you like changing gears with your thumbs. Here is a picture of the car.
