WTB 986 Boxster

Hi all! I just discovered this forum, and it looks like a great place to spend my time. I just sold my first car (2002 Audi TT 225) because despite being fast, it was not fun to drive. So now I'm looking for a little help finding my first porsche.

I'm located in Ann Arbor MI, and will drive up to 3 hours to check out a car. I also have a friend in Fort Lauderdale who will travel about 30 min to look at one for me down there.

I'm not picky at all with options/colors. It does have to be manual though, I love driving them. Preferably with less than 120k miles, but I'd consider more if the car came with good maintenance records. I can't spend more than $6500.

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Are you looking for one that is in perfect condition all around? Or are you interested in one that needs some work, as long as the price is right.

Your best bet is to wait till the winter sets in or late fall. Then you may see 1 or 2 come up cheap.

It is usually when the drivers here realize they are make great snow plows is when they start to sell them.

FYI - At that price be prepared to do some maintenance work.

2001 Base

While I can't sell for your target of $6500, I think for that price you will only find Boxsters that either need lots of work, or that have lots of miles, costing you way more in repairs. For $7500, which I could take, this 2001 base with 108K has just had the top, IMS bearing and RMS replaced. I am in Decatur, IL, you can take the train from Ann Arbor to Bloomington, IL where I can meet you. Here is a picture,

I have a friend that is looking for a boxter and you are right in his price range. He has to sell his current car first, an NA miata but he is set on a 986. There are a few things we need to get done on his car that we are going to knock out this weekend. Is it still for sale? If it is how much longer do you think it will still be available?

That car is sold...mentioned in another thread in the "For Sale" forum.

Damn, this would have been perfect. I must have missed that thread. Congrats on the sale!
