SOLD!!!

Up for sale is my beautiful 2001 Porsche Boxster S that I have owned for the past five years. It has been a very reliable car with the desirable 6-speed manual transmission. The car is bone stock (which is how I wanted it) with the exception of the RUF exhaust that was installed by the previous owner. This was my weekend good-weather cruiser. It drives great and the A/C blows cold. This has always been a non-smoking car and there are no strange smells. The reason for selling is I purchased my dream car: a Lotus Elise. I have the CLEAN Florida title in hand as well as BOTH keys. I also have the original documents and manuals that go along with the car.

I purchased this car in St. Petersburg, Florida (near Tampa, Florida) with 35,800 miles. During my ownership, the car has only been in the states of Florida and Georgia. This car has also never been driven in the snow and has only been driven by me in the rain once, which was on the day I purchased this car. The car looks absolutely fantastic, which is the reason I purchased this specific car after over a year of looking. I get complements all the time and people think the car is new by the condition of the exterior and interior. The car was washed and waxed on a regular basis and the interior was kept clean and conditioned. This car was ALWAYS kept in a garage.

Immediately after purchasing this Boxster, I took it to KMW Motorsports, an independent Porsche specialist in Boca Raton, Florida to look over the entire car. I have the bill in hand for those who would like to see it. They replaced the C/V boots, changed the oil with Mobil One, flushed the brake fluid, and inspected the rest of the car mechanically.

During my 5-year ownership, I have driven the car 7,000 miles. This works out to 1400 miles per year. It was used almost every weekend that had good weather. The ONLY part that failed on me was the alternator about a year into my ownership. I purchased a BOSCH alternator from Pelican Parts and replaced it. I have had no mechanical problems since.

I changed the oil once per year (about every 1,500 miles) using Porsche’s recommended Mobil One oil. The oil filter was ALWAYS changed during the oil change. The next oil change is due at the end of this year. Only 93 Octane Premium Gasoline was used during my entire ownership.

Replaced/Performed within the past 12 months:

- New Continental ExtremeContact DW tires (less than 1000 miles)

- New Battery

- 2 New Front Hood Shocks (OEM)

- 2 New Rear Hood Shocks (OEM)

Replaced/Performed within the past 24 months:

- ALL Filters Changed

- ALL Fluids Flushed

Replaced/Performed during ownership :

- C/V boots

- BOSCH Alternator

Over the past two weeks I examined and tested everything. The ONLY thing I could not get to work was the remote lock/unlock button on the spare key. The key still manually unlocks and locks the doors as well as starts the car. This may just be a low battery issue. The main key is fully operational.

Overall the car is in FANTASTIC condition as can be seen in the photos below. There are no door dings or dents. The only noticeable paint imperfections are rock chips on the front bumper from normal driving (see close up front bumper picture). The interior of the car looks like-new with no obvious signs of wear. There are absolutely no tears or rips in the interior (as can be seen in the pictures).

$500 deposit must be received within 48 hours.

I will deliver the car for free within a 100 mile radius of Atlanta, Georgia.

I am willing to pick up a fly-in buyer at the Atlanta international airport for no charge.

I am also willing to work with the buyer to ship the car at the buyers expense.

FaceTime/Skype available for serious buyers.

Why do you think this sold so quickly, while others sit for months?

sugarwood 06-09-2016 06:31 PM

What did it cost to replace the CV boots?

brewerbry 06-10-2016 03:17 AM

Where did you list the car to find your 2 interested people and eventual buyer? Mind sharing what the car ultimately sold for?

Condition, mileage, S, six speed and some nice options. There is a good demand for Boxsters that have what this car has. Mine sold just as quickly with a half a dozen people wanting to see it within a matter of days and selling to the first person who viewed it.

There are lots of Boxsters but most of them are at this point shabby and worn out. For good Boxsters there appears to be a decent demand relative to supply.

There's a saying - the cheapest Porsche to buy is the most expensive to own.

I see lots of mint condition Boxster S's for sale in my region that are sitting unsold for a very long time. They basically seem unsellable. Which is one reason I am so hesitant to buy a Boxster 986 ...
Very nice base models aren't selling at $6500 and mint low mileage S's do not sell at $14k.

There is no way this car would sell for $15k in NY. I don't think you would even get $13k for it.
I guess convertibles are a totally different market in the South, which makes perfect sense.

I guess each market is different. All I can tell you is what my real experience was. I had people from Colorado and North Carolina interested in the car. The IMS having been repaired 20k ago was also a huge plus.
