Sorry to hear you plan on leaving the fold, but congrats on the new family member. Your Box looks mint, good luck on the sale.

I may not be gone for long....

I have thought about having a dd and the box(or a new Box), but I'd want to drive it almost everyday anyways

What is a DD? Daily Driver? Why not use the box for a daily driver....I use mine as one!

No Need to Sell

Congrats on the addition to the family, but you don't have to sell your boxster! I've got 3 kids (1, 3 and 4) and I just bought my boxster. Of course, I bought a 99 so that I could keep my other "family" car for times when I need to drive kids around. I've found, however, that most of the time my wife drives the kids around in her minivan and I can drive my box almost every day.

Well it has been my daily driver(dd) for a year now.

I do have both car seats. My 5yr old rides with me now. I just bought the infant seat from someone, so I can care the new born if I have too.

But, when my wife goes back to work, if and when, I won't be able to carry both of them.

I am exploring options for a third car...Jetta TDI, Sport trac etc...but then I won't drive it. I will always want to be in the Boxster. And the combination of the two investments would easily buy a 4-door I could be happy driving.

After driving the Boxster everyday for the last year, so many cars that I used to like are so ho-hum now. If it isn't an m-something or a something-55 or a something-S, it just doesn't make me smile.

Family Car Suggestion

Let me suggest the Infiniti G35 sedan if you have to give up your boxster. I have an '04 all wheel drive that I drive during the winter and in the rain (or when I have to drive more than 1 kid around). My G35 is 260 hp, but in 2005 the G got an upgrade to either a 280 hp 5 speed automatic or a 298 hp 6 speed manual. Of course, some will argue that the BMW outperforms the G35, but for the money the G35 is an easy choice.

My wife let me keep my G35 and buy a boxster because she decided that it was safer than a Harley. Once I convinced her I really wanted a Harley she was more than happy to let me get a "second" car.
