All of You offering $3000.00 for My 2000 Boxster, maybe You should by a Miata

The sad truth is that 2.7 automatic 986 Boxsters aren't in high demand, and one that needs several thousand dollars worth of work isn't terribly appealing unless it is cheap. While you will find lots of potential buyers here, you are not likely to find buyers willing to pay top dollar. Being optimistic, it would cost $2k for a transmission, then another $500+ to put it in, so it just doesn't make sense for a what is likely a $7-$9k car best case. (Take a look at completed sales on ebay...)

If you want the most for your car, make a great ad and put it on ebay with a reserve that is the least you would take. That way you can see what the market is. Considering some of the completed sales on ebay for running, driving Boxsters is less than $5k, I wouldn't be too optimistic.

These are great cars, maybe it makes the most sense to fix it and keep it.

To add to Qmuluss' great advice...might I add that you make sure you spell the name of the car correctly. Since youve misspelled it twice in this thread I thought it prudent to remind you that youll probably get better visibility on ebay by listing it as a Boxster and not as a "Boxter." Not busting your chops, just trying to help.
