Here is one;

'99 Boxster needs engine

Go see the car in person with cash in-hand. Do a good PPI on the body, suspension, brakes, etc. Then remind the seller that there is likely to be a LOT more wrong with the car than just the engine itself and there is no way for you to check without the driving the car; e.g., a/c, alternator, starter, AOS, water pump/cooling system, suspension, alignment, transmission, etc. Nicely remind the seller that any of those items can cost $500-$1000 to fix and you're taking all of the risk in buying a non-running car. Therefore, you have to assume that there is more wrong with the car than just the engine. Then offer $2800. The owner will refuse that offer but now you can negotiate to low $3K's where the deal makes sense.

I've got a '99 with a cracked cylinder I'd like to sell. Unfortunately, it's not perfect. It needs a new back window and has door dings from the morons in my work parking lot. Most, if not all, could be fixed with paintless dent removal. The interior is in good shape though. Mechanically, it's a good car, except for the cracked cylinder thing. Hell, it still runs fine about 75% of the time.

Hello, I have a 2002 boxster that we just put new clutch, presure plate and IMS upgrade in and within the last month. while on the freeway this last week had the rod break which went through the case. The car has 140,000 but have replaced the following starter, ac compressor two months ago, maf, repacked half shafts, and other items as we maintained the car. It has a new top installed with the small glass back window, M030 suspension, turbo wheels, litronics, upgraded to gray/red taillights and gray side markers. The car also has the Bose system, cd changer, carbon mirror covers, factory and aftermarket exhaust. This was my car but was given to my son once I got my 911. He at this point is wanting another car and with that are taking offers for the car. If a fair price is reached I will part with it otherwise I may put in another motor and keep for myself. Let me know if you are interested. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1371437047.jpg
