No need to explain much to this crowd.

I got a 99 Tip off a cop auction.

Now I "need" a Spyder.

Here's my CL ad:

'99 Porsche Boxster Tiptronic NEW TOP! 78k mi

I've had this car for a year and I've loved it so much...that I decided to trade up to a newer version of the same car.

White ext, black leather int, and rock solid throughout. This is a Finland-made Boxster, reputedly even better than Stuttgart. Go Valmet.
18" wheels. Stable, balanced, predictable and thoroughly enjoyable. Ferocious grip!

This a GREAT little car. Classic good looks. Zippy.
I get compliments and catch folks looking at it just about daily.

I had a NEW, repeat N-E-W Porsche OEM convertible top professionally installed the day before Irene hit, you know, just in case.
That cost a pretty penny believe you me.
The top looks great, works perfectly, is watertight in the worst conditions and at high speeds in heavy rain.
It's also amazingly quiet at speed. Quieter than the original.

When I first bought the car I had it thoroughly checked out and maintained by a Porsche high performance shop.
Injectors were flushed, the computer reset, MAF renewed, engine air filter replaced, cabin air filter replaced, battery replaced, plugs replaced, horn acutator replaced.

I've used only high end synthetic oil. It does not leak or smoke.

Last week I had it thoroughly checked out by a Porsche dealer.

Their words, not mine:
"Nice little car. Nothing wrong with it."

The tires are in great shape, ditto brakes, ditto the black leather interior.
It has the rollbar air deflectors as well as the central air deflector.
These accessories make the car quiet and comfortable with the top down at 80+.
Not that I would ever go that fast.
It's got a Porsche optional rear deck storage unit that is fairly hard to find, and handy.

There is one tiny body ding on a wheel arch, and some long fine scratches along one side.
It's missing one tiny little cover on an interior sensor...and... that's it.

So to recap:
Starts. Runs. Drives. Turns. Brakes. Cools. Heats.
All GREAT!

I have the window sticker. This thing sold for $53,000! ...in '99!

But wait, there's more.
I've driven it pretty much every day since I bought it. I commute in it. Makes my day!
Porsche recommends winter tires at temps below 40F (or so) as the 3-season tires do not grip as well
below that temperature.

So I bought a set of 17" Porsche wheels and name-brand winter tires. I forget what they are, they're stored.
I calculate that replacement cost on the winter tires and wheels alone is over $4,000.

All yours, bunkie for a measly $13k.

Such a deal!

Photos to come.
