a lot about what approach you take to selling the parts or car affects the return you'll get.

You do the work, separate out all the parts, arrange shipping, advertise etc...the most $

Sell it to a person who specializes in parting out P-cars...less.

Sell it to someone who wants to put a rebuilt engine into it...who knows.

Another option is to talk to Jake and spend 6-7k or so for a checked out engine with about 6 of the most common problem parts replaced with non-Porsche "improved" parts (including the IMS). He calls it a cpo program.

Depending on the damage to yours, he might even buy your old engine for parts.

You might also look at the Boxster Racing website, and other spec racer websites, some there is always looking for a good shell to build from......

I don't think a 1997 qualifies as a good shell since it needs a lot of reinforcement to the rear body to be as strong as 1998 & later bodys.

You could part it out, but in may take 10 years to sell off the good parts. Me, put it on ebay and put a Reserve of $3 k and see what happens. At least if you get a taker you get $3K or could be bid up higher. :cheers:

Porsche warns not to use wheels over 17" on 1997 models due to increased cornering loads. 1998 & newer models have reinforced: Lower engine compartment bulkhead, rear wall crossmember, rear axle mount, coilspring mount & rear wheel well. This is 1 reason 97's are lighter especially the cars without side airbags.

97's are also especially sought after for spec boxsters if I'm not mistaken. They run on 17's in the spec class as this was the largest wheel size offered when new.

I could be wrong on this, but your 97 may be worth more than you think. Talk to some spec boxster people on this board to learn more. Brad Roberts is one guy you could ask.
