Wanted: Inexpensive Boxster preferably with a Bad Engine

Looking for an inexpensive boxster for a 3.6L engine transplant. Any year considered, other than the motor, the car must be in great condition.

Thanks
Todd

Did you see wonko's 11 grand boxster in the classifieds?

tholyoak 10-18-2007 09:59 AM

Yes I did, but with the mileage and the poor bumper paint, it would need a bunch of $$ put into it to bring it to proper condition that would quickly make it a $15k car. I also tend to shy away from cars that have had aftermarket stereo components installed.
Couple that to the fact that the high mileage 2.5L would be essentially worthless after it is removed doesn't make it a good candidate for my needs.

Currently my ideal car would be a 2000 Boxster S but again I am willing to consider all options. I have an extra motor that needs a home.

I dont think you'll ever find what your looking for cause even thou you want something dirt cheap cause you dont need the motor... the seller can care less what you will be doing with it, its not like they are going to say "Oh you dont need the engine ok ill sell it for 4k less than i listed." Its like your asking to get a boxster at trade-in value.

Why not buy a boxster that's got a blown engine??? Is it that important that the car be in running condition since you wont need the engine or are you trying to make a nice chunk of change by selling the old engine?

Would you be wiling to sell the motor? What do you have exactly? New or Used 3.6?

Someone around here just posted a thread of their lower mileage 98 or so Boxster engine taking a dump and beyond warranty shortly after they bought it. Maybe look around and make an offer? :)

If anyone knows of a blown engine 2.5 or 2.7 let me know please. My mech and I want to build one up.

tholyoak 10-19-2007 05:40 AM

Perhaps you would like to start your own post instead of piggybacking mine?

Everything is for sale, for the right price. My extra motor is the 3.6 I am pulling out of my own car to replace with a new 3.6 X51. The engine has less that 20k miles on it and was a reman Porsche engine built in 2005.

Hay bud

The reason I posted in your thread was if you buy one with a bad motor, you will know that I am an interested party to purchase. Geez man just wanted to let you know that I could be a buyer if you still have the extre motor.

tholyoak 10-19-2007 07:49 AM

I guess I didn't understand your post, are you just looking for a bad 2.5L or 2.7L engine? If so I have two 2.5L, both 1998. One is pretty much trash, slipped sleeve, good heads crank etc, just the main case is junk. The other ran but had a knock when removed. It hasn't been disassembled.

yea an I just need one to tear a part and try to build a 4.1. I will check with my mech shoot me a PM on what you may want for it please. I am now just starting to think about this.

Thanks

Haha, you guys are on the ball. It was me who had a blown engine. I don't really want to give it up and was looking to do a 3.4 or 3.6 swap. I already contacted Todd and now that I know he has a 3.6, maybe I can work something out with him on putting that into mine.
