Conrod strength in race engines

Hello racers.

Do you consider the conrods a failure point in race engines? LN engineering and Hartech recommend aftermarket rods for track use. I know the bolts can break, but ARP rod bolts are cheaper than a set of aftermarket rods.

Have you seen a lot of failures?

If you are looking to save money, Porsche's are not the car for you; speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

I'm sorry, I thought I was being funny. I'm so sick of this engine I didn't even consider people could disagree

That being said. I see no reason to buy new parts if stock are good enough, Porsche or not. What I meant was that very little seems to be good enough to keep for a rebuild in this particular engine type.

I'm going to keep the car, rebuild the engine and enjoy it, but to me this engine is obviously a weak design. I'm going to spend my money wisely. I don' have that much and I want to spend it on going to the track.

With top tier race ready rebuilds going north of $20K, these engines can be anything but "cheap". A lot of the factory parts are just fine for aggressive street use, but if you want to turn the wick up on the track, you are going to need to open your wallet, just a simple fact of life.
