Anyone racing with the stock hardtop?

If anyone is racing with the stock hardtop, have you cut out some of the reinforcing structure of the hardtop?

I'm struggling to get enough space around my head and need to redesign the cage. I can gain space by cutting away some of the doubling structure above the door. Will this make the hardtop floppy and weak, or has anyone done this?

we have one car that still has the hardtop -- my Spec Boxster has the fiberglass top.

As long as the mounts are secure -- I wouldn't worry about cutting away the double structure.

The series I run the fiberglass top requires the use of a net or arm restraints.
