Suspension for track car
 

So I am starting to work on my suspension on my build toward an f stock 02 Boxster S.

I am trying to plan this in a stepwise approach given the cost of this.

My plan is for new control arms, sway bars with drop links, tie rods, coil overs and whatever else breaks or needs replacing.

For coilovers, I’m leaning toward the motion control 2 way NR.

The rest I will probably get from Tarett.

What do I get first? Do I start with coilovers or the other things.

Suspension changes are all about maximizing your specific contact patch. Which is best really depends on the tire contact patch you need to control, and whether you plan to run race tracks or tight AX courses.

SCCA f-stock? If you have a non-S you’ll be in B stock and stock rules only allow for aftermarket shocks and one after market sway bar (front or rear). I’d recommend a full M030 kit and a front GT3 bar (the bar really didn’t do much for me though, you need camber to take advantage of it). I’d make sure you want to stay in this class and don’t want to move onto tracking the car. You’ll make a huge investment in an autocross setup for stock class that may not be where you eventually want to go. Ask me how I know:(

I guess I am also wondering if I can get coilovers, lower the car without the rest ie.. lower control arms or tie rods.

You won’t need control arms and you may be able to get away without rear toe links if you don’t go to low. I’d get Coilovers and then buy rear toe links later. If you’re OK grinding the front shock towers out a bit you can add front camber for free.

I'll assume you plan to run 40tw R-Comp tires so you will want -3 degrees front camber and -2.5 rear. The preferred setup is with adjustable GT3 arms in front and coilovers all around.
