Make me an offer--tell me what you think it's worth.

Listing on rennlist.

Greg, I think that the asking price is about right. The car was built by a well known shop (Speed Gallery), has a top-notch roll cage, and looks ready to race. The minor body damage isn't of any consequence.

I know of a similar car that sold with a data system and a spare engine (eBay sourced) for $35K so your car should sell for over $30K. I'd buy it myself if I didn't already own one! :) Someone should jump on this.

New price: $28,000.

Bump for the new year. Someone out there must need a professionally-built spec boxster for the coming year.

Interested! I'm going to do some homework this week and then reach out to you.

Still for sale. I now have these documents to help you decide:

1. build spec sheet signed by builder Dan Aspeci at The Speed Gallery.
2. receipts for additional work done.
3. car fax.
4. a pre-purchase inspection from BR Racing in Los Gatos (sponsor of the local PCA racers, has worked on many spec boxsters).
5. two estimates for the body work. One to replace the fender, and one to pull it out and bondo it.
6. California certificate of title with VIN.
7. odometer reading: 97,284.
8. the dyno sheet from MCE Racing (does all the dynos for NASA).

See all these documents and photos of the car here.

Here's a summary of the pre-purchase inspection from BR Racing, in case you find it hard to read in the photograph.

  1. One wheel bearing should probably be replaced.
  2. Car has stock brake rotors not the slotted or drilled ones.
  3. Front brake pads should be replaced.
  4. Rear brake pads are fine (60% left).
  5. Car does not have the extra radiator in the center. (Not really necessary unless you live in Texas, in my opinion).
  6. The end-links on the rear sway bar are stock (not adjustable). You probably want to get the adjustable ones from Tarrett.
  7. Rear sway bar is not connected (I did so for a wet day I ran).
  8. Missing one of the plastic underbody panels. (I think these are about $100).
  9. The rear lower control arms are stock. You'll probably want to replace these, you get about 1/2 a degree more camber. I don't know the cost.
  10. There's a way to connect the rear lower control arms to lengthen the wheelbase 1/4" or so. It's a minor improvement, but you might as well do it since it doesn't require any new parts.
  11. Driver's seat was manufactured 12/2012. It will need to be replaced or have a back support created for it.
  12. Seat belts expire in 2020.
  13. Fire bottle was not in the car (I left it at home).
  14. The fire system on switch is next to the driver's leg and could get flipped off accidentally. Should relocate it.
  15. Battery is stock (heavy, 38 lbs).
  16. Wiring in the car is stock. You can get lighter-weight ones with fewer wires.
  17. There's a spare tire in the front trunk.
  18. The cable for the battery cut-off switch--they don't like the way it's routed. They think it would be too hard to pull. Personally, I had no problem pulling it.
  19. Body damage.
  20. Car has a passenger seat installed.
  21. Stock shifter on risers.
  22. Parking brake is still installed.
  23. Has stock hood releases front and rear. You might like to have hood pins installed.
  24. Has wheel studs.
  25. Has a quick release on the steering wheel.
  26. Windshield wipers are still installed.
  27. Roof not on car (I left it at home).
  28. No roof net (I use arm restraints).
  29. Has catalytic converters still installed. Straight pipes would get you about 5 more HP.
  30. Needs a rear tow hook.
