WGI Metro NY HPDE

Here are a couple laps from my August DE at Watkins Glen.

lap 2 4 - YouTube

I'm running in a solo class still using 18" Hankook RS3 tires so they still squeal a bit when pushed. I caught and follow the Black Cayman S in almosy every session but don't have the HP to get past him.

Very nicely done! Your line is good and you seem comfortable driving the car at speed.

Its hard to tell from the video but I'd suggest getting back onto the throttle earlier (or sooner) in the corners. The Boxster generally doesn't have much horsepower so power oversteer is rarely a concern and the earlier you get back on the throttle, the faster your corner exit and subsequent straight line speed.

Often, I will brake for a corner, turn in, and then get back on the throttle before the apex to gain on a car with more horsepower. Done smoothly, the car will stick through the corner even with full throttle applied before the apex. This works pretty well in 3rd gear corners at 70-85mph.

Nice job! Great video. I just can't get enough Boxster videos on various road courses! Thanks for posting.

Question-

With all of your mods, did you remap your ECU?

Thanks again for posting the video.

You are right. This is the first course I ever ran on and the instructor all had me lift to set yourself in turn 2, 6, 9, and 10. I find myself still doing that, and at the level I'm getting to now a shouldn't do that, Old habits are hard to break. Sunday afternoon although my camera stopped the data recorder has some of my best laps 4 second faster.
