Transponder Install Location?

I've been renting a transponder for all of my track days and could have bought two with the cumumlative rental fees. Finally purchased a wired unit last week. Any suggestions/tips for the install location?

Generally somewhere in the wheel well. Some racing orgs or class rules will specify something like less than x inches in front of the axle so on the front bumper won't be legal. You can feed the power wire thru a grommet that goes into the front trunk. There is a void between the headlamp and the wheel well liner which is one place. Try to get as much of an unobstructed path to the ground as you can, so the signal is strong. I'm currently just wiring it to a plug hanging off the battery, so I unplug when not in use. I've been advised that wiring to some of the wiper or washer motor stuff near the battery is a good way to get power that is switched by the ignition. Driver side in that case is a little easier/closer.
