Motorsport AOS on MY 2002 ?

Going this year to the track on R-comps I want to be ready for high g-forces in long, fast left hand turns (Thunderhill turn 2)

So to avoid hydro-lock due to an overloaded AOS I wanted to switch to a Motorsport AOS following the instructions here:
Will a Motorsports AOS work on a Boxster? - RennTech.org Forums

I quickly figured out that this is too tall an order for me, so I took the car to my very trusted mechanic and after having a look at my AOS he told me that the Motorsport-AOS from Porsche only works for MY 2003 and higher.

So is there a solution for MY 2002?

Thanks

No. No solution.

I have something in the works that has a $60 replaceable AOS diaphragm (from the same company who supplies Porsche)

My kit will sell for $450 and come with TWO replaceable AOS diaphragm's. It will bolt straight onto the 9X6 engine blocks.

Yes. All 986/996 engines.. and 987/997 engines. The differences between the two are minor.

Brad,

just for clarification: Will your solution provide the benefits of a Motorsport AOS, or will it just be like a normal AOS but will make replacing a failed one faster and easier?

Thanks

It will handle extra capacity just like Porsche version.

FYI: Everyone keeps calling the Porsche high capacity AOS "Motorsport" I promise you Porsche Motorsport had NOTHING to do with it.

Up until a few months ago, Porsche Motorsports had never touched a mass production engine for the street cars. They are now developing the DFI engine for the Grand Am 997's (the GT3 Cup cars will go to this engine shortly) The new Turbo's are already DFI based on the 987/997/991 engines.

Unlike other vendors.. I like to test for awhile before we actually release something. I'd like to put a few more event weekends on it before we send out "test" samples.

When is your first event?

FYI: we are testing on a BoxsterS

my first track days this year will be March 24/25 in Thunderhill with PCA
And this would be the perfect testing ground as I'd like to avoid seeing THIS again coming out of turn 2: Smoke gets in your eyes .... - YouTube

Chris,

is that March event a PCA Club racing weekend? If so, I'll be there and we can install one on your car if you can show up early (Friday afternoon)

Hi Brad,

as far as I know every PCA-GGR track day is a club race event. So I'd guess the answer is yes.
The earliest I can realistically make it is 4 PM, is that early enough

4pm is fine. I'm coming from SoCal, so it's a 10hour drive for me with truck trailer.

I can do it in the Golden Pheasant parking lot.. LOL LOL

Does this mean the "REAL" GT3 motors are going forever? Have I now got another good reason to hang on to my GT3?

There is a motorsports type AOS available for the m96 engine as I have on fitted to my 987 3.2. It was never generally available and pretty much a development item. It differs from the 996 motorsports AOS in that it has a profile to suit the secondary air pump location specific to the boXster and later cayman. Details of installation and part numbers etc can be found in the tech articles section of planet-9.com
