My E46/330i feels like a Lexus

right after driving my brand-new Boxster!!!!

Just picked up a 2007 Meteor Grey S last night and I am psyched!!

It has the following:

6spd
black top
black std leather
preferred package plus
self-dim mirrors/rain sensors
power seat package
pcm 2.1
bi-xenons
heated front seats
19" carrera s wheels
wheel caps with colored crests
porsche windstop/deflector
auto climate control
bose
remote cd
floor mats

even though i'm leasing it, i'm trying to be good during the break-in period, but it is scary faaasstttt. i drove it home from the stealership last night with the top down (on the beltway, it was 28F), but i didn't care. my first porsche and my first convertible all in one. did i mention that this thing is faaaassssttt?

gotta wipe this big ol' grin off my face at some point. i didn't realize the base s models had the big ol' red brake calipers--those are cool. i also thought there was a storage bin between/behind the two front seats, but it looks like the bose subwoofer is there instead? no matter, i didn't get the car for its storage capacity.

thanks guys! here's a few pix of mine (like it's any different than everyone else's and like we all need to see pix of one more out-of-the-box boxster that's no different than all the others!).

enjoy!

Nice Box and welcome...I'm jealous of your PCM so don't be surprised if you come out to the garage one day and it's gone missing.

The reason you think the e46 feels like a Lexus compared to your Boxster is because it is a Lexus compared to your Boxster. The only people who are impressed by 3-series handling and would refer to BMWs as the ultimate driving machine are their owners (and I own one, albeit an e36 convertible).

The E46 is a fine sedan, one of the best.

The Boxster is a mid-engine two seat sports car. One of the best!

Comparing them is kind of silly.

I am constantly amazed at how folks need to hammer some other product to make them feel better about their own purchase.

Rich/Bruce,

I'm not sure how you inferred that I was digging at my BMW by jokingly referring to my perception of its ride akin to a Lexus after driving my new Boxster, but that's ok, it's all good.

Obviously the BMW drives exactly the same as it always has, it's merely my perception of it that's changed. I actually don't think that comparing these two autos (truth be told, I wasn't really seriously comparing them) is so ridiculous, but we'll save that one for another day. My 330i is a great car and I plan to keep it. The Boxster also appears to be a potentially great car--only time will tell.

I just feel very, very fortunate to be in a position to be able to own two world-class automobiles.
