I just got on Gembella's site and they don't have anywhere to order their stuff. Where can I get that Gembella spoiler?

Well, like I always say, if they don't post the price that usaully means "IT'S SO DAM EXPENSIVE, WE ARE NOT GOING TO POST IT" because people would never CALL us to find out. ;) You have to call them for ordering anything.

Oh, ok. Well at least there's a way to order it.

Just out of curiousity, how much would you think that spoiler of theirs costs?

I don't know for sure, probably a couple of hundred bucks or more. There stuff tends to be VERY expensive.

As long as it's under say $800 I think I'll get one.

But first Chills needs to de-amber. ;)

djomlas 03-06-2007 11:11 AM

that spoiler looks pretty nice when its down, when up it looks goofy.

I hope you're talking about the eBay one. That Gemballa one is sweet.

To each his own. ;) Porsche has used fixed spoilers as an aftermarket option for some time now. But not everyone likes it. I just preffer not to drill any holes in my trunk, that's why I went the one I have. Only uses 3M double sided tape.

djomlas 03-06-2007 11:45 AM

o no, the gemballa one and the ebay one look nie when down (well gemballa looks nice either way)

the other one i dont like, one thats just taped on the trunk

Brilliant Idea! Cappy!

How about a "cap" type spoiler on top of the factory unit?! That way I get the look AND the function!!!

Would the combined aero be funky? How bad could it be? Extra "John Goodman" I want, at high speed.

I would buy the cheapo and shave it and make a cappy.

That would be ideal. ;) I've seen it done before on some other cars. Look at this one. That's what they did. Added a small bridge ontop of the stock one.

Well it looks better than this big wing that Porsche sells in the Techquipment section. This thing is so big and does not even conform with the lines of the car.

At least mine is very small and fits nicely between the tailights. But everyone has there own opinion.

New look of 987 spoiler

This is where I got my idea for the new 987 sport package that has this type of spoiler.

As you can see the one I used is the same shape and size as the new 07 design. I think it looks cool and more modern.

Now your talkin! I like that idea.

Anyone got the stock one they want to sell? Since I haven't taken mine in for paint, it's a prime candidate for giving this a try.

It's been done. Did you see my earlier picture. Check out this web site. You have to scroll down some to see it.

I like it!

Now would one of you guys or gals with a broken/cracked aftermarket wing want to sell or donate this to me :) I would figure a way and document how to fasten it to the stock spoiler. Maybe I can even make a mold of the cappy and dupe it.

Or spend the 300 bucks for the bridge type spoiler and be done with it...decisions, decisions... Out of the box sure sounds appealing.

Thumper 03-06-2007 04:09 PM

That's not what I had in mind. That has a bit of a rice-a-roni look to it.

I was thinking of shaving the lower half of the aftermarket wing off and bonding it to the top of the factory spoiler so that I would have the look of the aftermarket wing, but the improved mounting of the factory unit.

Before I do anything dramatic, I'm going to look at the way the wing mounts and see if I can improve/modify the mount so that I don't run into some of the same problems that others have experienced.

Hi,

That's gotta be for aesthetics only because the Wing and Spoiler would interfere with one another aerodynamically, maybe not enough to matter, but they would in any case...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I understand exactly what you mean. How hard do you think it would be to attach it?

I'd like to see how that would look, but I'm pretty set on the Gemballa one.

Thumper 03-07-2007 05:43 AM

It would actually look just like the aftermarket wing....when closed. Open, it would look more like the Gemballa wing without the hole in the riser.

It would be pretty easy to do. There are panel adhesives out now that are crazy strong (GM attaches their door hinges on their trucks with the stuff). It can be filed, sanded and painted. I'm restoring an old Corvette and the panel adhesive I've used on it would probably work as well.
