I think I listen to Satellite 90% of time outside the car. I have it hooked up to all my PC's. Being a big Stern fan (since 91) it's great to tune in any time of day and get my non-PC fill for the day. I love when celebrities go on and he asks what the silicone people on network TV would never ask. I have also been tunning in to shhhhh don't tell anybody... NASCAR radio since I have been following the exploits of one F1 driver who is taking a stab at yee haw racing this year.
as far as loosing money, I think the companies are mismanaged and have made big investments on non-music content. But at the end of the day they are filling a need and if they can figure out a way to boost revenue and cut costs and with the number of production cars now being equiped with Sat. radio (soon to be millions) each paying at least a $100 a year..well you can do the math.
A small team of people could program the daily listening of 10+ million people with one server. Kind of like Video on demmand and the $3 Billion in business its doing and counting, except there is far more competition in that field than a mere two satellite radio stations.
