Headlight Question

I took my 1999 Boxster out of the garage and out for a spin yesterday for the first time in quite a while since it was one of the first opportunities, without giving it a salt bath, lately. I noticed that the passenger side plastic headlight cover is fogged up, that is, it has water vapor trapped inside. I haven't taken a look to determine all of the avenues for water entry, but the gasket around the cover itself is my first thought. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how do you fix it?

Hi,

The headlights have vapor drains in them which draw off any built up vapor through Bernoulli action of air passing past the drain tube under the car. But, if the car isn't moving, this isn't possible, which is what I suspect is the case with you.

You could also check to see that the drain tube isn't plugged. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

Thanks a bunch for the insight on how this works. I'll see if driving it clears it up and if not I'll take a look at the drain tube.
